Let’s Get Technical

in Weight Loss

I have decided that up until this point I have been soft. Weak. Pathetic.

I have not been keeping track of my progress in a way that allows me to know when I am doing well or when I am doing poorly (like now!).

How am I supposed to know or let others know what is working and what is not working if I don’t even know?

So from now on I will be much better and much more technical about tracking my progress and what I am doing. You will see more consistency and more cold, hard data about weight loss (ooo, graphs to come!)

I have decided Saturday/Sunday will be my weekly weigh-in time. I would choose just one day but my weekends are always different so I will stick with a “Weekend Weigh-In.”

Also, I will start keeping track of my body size in inches, so I can let you know what melts away. More, I am going to track my cardio more carefully… noting time and distance. :) Its nice to see those things add up.

So, dear weight loss friends, be prepared. No more sissy girl weight loss tracking. This is an important thing in my life and deserves important attention, which it will now get.

Just so long as you don’t use it as something to punish yourself.

If you’re doing it because you feel you’ve let yourself down, and now you “need to step it up”, “go for gold”, “push the limit”, then you might find yourself hating the new regime and not getting the results you had hoped for.

If, however, you’re doing it because you know you thrive under structure, you like the added pressure, and you know you can push through it, then that’s freaking awesome :)

Either way, I wish you much success :)

@FLG: good observations. Im doing it not because I thrive under structure or added pressure, because I don’t feel it will add either of those, but because like to see progress and results. Its so easy for me to not notice differences if I dont pay attention, so I feel if I keep better track of everything it will be easier to see. Basically I am doing it as further motivation to keep going. Thanks for the well wishes.

Bring it on, girl.
I look forward to watching you rock!

I think it’s a good decision because you will be aware all the time and you will not enter in that denial mode.

FLG’s right.

Personally I put up my stats once a week, then add a note or thoughts about why I’ve lost, gained or stayed the same.

The trickest thing is forcing yourself to post on weeks that went haywire. However, that’s the most important time to post, as it makes you accountable and you can’t ignore it.

It’s not, I repeat NOT about beating yourself up, rather it’s about coming to terms with and recognising your eating patterns and the danger zones.

@ Krissie + Alex: Thanks!

@ Kim: I understand and that is exactly why I want to do it! I think its more about me being more aware of what I am doing so I can improve (hopefully).

Mary,
This happens to me all the time. I will go down and then go up, go down then go up. You just gotta keep plugging away. I know how frustrating it can be. However, we should be proud we keep trying!
