So have you seen the new Britney Spears lately?

Apparently she got her body back. OK Magazine says Britney Spears is back in shape thanks to a new diet and workout.
Earlier this year (May 5, 2008) the National Enquirer detailed Britney’s diet and fitness regime for her comeback:
- “Six small meals a day of specially prepared organic food – chicken, salads, vegetables and other low-fat fare.”
- Pampering treatments for encouragement and appearance such as facials, hair and skin care treatments
- Working out “with a trainer, three times a day, five days a week.”
- “She’s been ordered to do a staggering thousand stomach crunches a day on her own.”
So what exactly is she eating?
“I have no sugar. I don’t eat fruit or even fruit juice because of the sugar. I eat chicken and salmon and rice. I eat avocados. I’ll have egg whites for breakfast and sometimes turkey burgers for lunch. I try to do just 1,200 caloires a day…. It may sound like it’s not much, but it’s actually a lot of food if you eat the right things.
I am glad Britney spears is trying to get her life together. Eating healthier which is a vast improvement from her previous junk food diet.
And a thousand stomach crunches on top of working out three times a day every week day? Wow. That does not sound fun to me.
This info is all from sources from a few months ago. I wrote this earlier today and then surprisingly ended up reading about little miss Britney Spears over at Workout Mommy. She was talking about this interview where Britney talked about her body and her workout in Glamour, November 2008.
GLAMOUR: Speaking of kids, do you feel like you have the same body confidence now after having kids?
BS: I’m getting there. Recently I started to appreciate my body a bit more from before I had kids. But it completely changed, and I have had to work hard at getting it back to where it used to be…. I used to be obsessed with working out…. But I can’t get motivated right now because I’m so focused on my music
GLAMOUR: You shouldn’t feel guilty about not going to the gym every single day.
BS: It isn’t fun [for me], so to do it every day would be horrible. Three days a week is cool, even two. It makes me feel good and feel like I’ve done something. It’s important to take care of your body.
Workout Mommy said, “I think she looks fantastic but find it suspicious that she admits to rarely exercising and makes no mention of healthy eating. Any suggestions?”
I really like the suggestions people have come up with so far…
Alice said maybe Britney has started using sprayed on abs.
Fit Bottomed Girls suggested all the dancing (cardio!!), less partying, and Britney’s good genes.
charlotte said: “My vote? Drugs. Probably prescription. Adderall? Ritalin? I betting she’s got something.”
MizFit weighed in on the topic saying, “Im in for clenbuteral
and, Im sure, a cocktail of others Ive never even heard of!”
Betsy wins with the scariest comment: “I heard a rumor about her taking several laxatives everyday. Could be just that though, a rumor.” ((I hope not….that sounds miserable.))
Pamela Kramer suggested smoking, which is a good point considering how it keeps weight off a lot of people.
Both KathyHowe and asithi thought Britney might have had a little bit of lipo. Mmm, plastic surgery.
And then a comment which I think I agree with.
I did see an interview with her a few weeks ago and she talked about her diet; swapping frappucinos for skinny lattes, getting rid of junk food, etc. They also showed her working out at home with her trainer. She’s also 27, with good genes, so it may be through hard work, more than drugs or surgery (but I’m not laying any bets down, lol!).
And, yeah, A LOT of celebs underplay their diet and workouts.
None of us really know how Britney’s abs came back (or if they really did, haha, they could be sprayed on!). But I think it is interesting that when someone in the celebrity world loses weight or gets back into shape we immediately get suspicious of drugs, surgery, quick fixes, etc. Maybe they just work hard too? Maybe not, but I want to believe that over the alternative.

great post, I haven’t had a chance yet to respond to all the comments on my site yet but when I realized that most of them were negative I felt really bad. Maybe Britney really is working hard and doing all the right things? Unfortunately there will always be someone (shamefully like myself) to call foul and not believe her.
I applaud the fact that Britney has gotten herself back on track, no matter what her abs look like. :)

I think maybe part of the problem for all the negativity is the timeline. One day she is a slob, then the next day she is once again a hot mama. All this makes it easy to believe that she probably when into some extreme measures to slim down.
If she had spend time working out and eating health of her life, like Jessica Biel, and then slack off for a while because she had a baby or over her divorce, and now bounce back… that would be a different story.
Now if she really turned around and is able to maintain her figure for years, then I will sheepishly declare that I am wrong. But I just cannot shake the feeling that all this media attention to her body is an intentional campaign by her PR firm to garner more sales for her new CD and tour.
