Wow. Last night after my workout (finished around 9) I planned on going home and sleeping.
Then I got a call from some friends that are in town for Christmas. I always love seeing people I haven’t seen in a while so I ended up hanging out with them for a while then going to a party. Needless to say I consumed a lot of alcohol and stayed out till about an hour before I had to wake up for work in the morning. No sleep and too much alcohol is not so good for the tryingtogethealthyandnotgainamillionholidaypounds thing.
But it was freaking fantastic fun. And I plan on doing it again tonight (the drinking part). And probably the next night. And probably a few more times over the next two weeks. Yes, I see much alcohol consumption in my near future.
The only – and there is only one – problem with this plan of action is Weight Watchers. This is my first week of Watchers and have been doing well about staying within the points range. However last night I probably blew a few days worth of points on the alcohol I consumed throughout the night, including the liquor and lovely mixers like coke (the ONLY time I drink the stuff).
On a happy note, I tried a few new things and found a few that I absolutely loved. Like Cherry Brandy. And Peppermint Schnapps. <3 So very yummy and totally appropriate for the holiday season. :)
So I am left with a dilemma.
To drink or not to drink?
Actually it is not much of a dilemma. I plan on drinking.
But I do feel slightly guilty about planning on over-indulging in this area. And then again, this is not what I do every week. Normally I don’t knowingly partake in drinking more than my plan allows. I usually don’t go out much because of the fact that drinks/food/everything out is so detrimental to losing weight. Since the holidays are a time I want to enjoy and spend with friends I want to go out and join them in drinkng yummy things.
I am left wondering if there are any good drinks that are low calorie/low WW points. I will still go out every night for the next couple weeks (or at the very least weekends, eves, and holidays) but maybe I can drink something better. Any suggestions?

Been reading for a bit now, but first time commenter. If you can tolerate Diet Coke, that’s a 0 point mixer. You can have Diet Coke and Rum for 2 points. I’m also a fan of Diet Coke and flavored vodkas. There’s also club soda (NOT tonic water, which is sweet and has calories) and flavored vodka, but that’s not as sweet. Anytime you can use a zero-calorie mixer you’re saving points right there. Or you can go with a glass of wine for 2 points or a light beer for 2 points. As you can see I put a lot of thought into these things, lol. I definitely feel your pain this time of year and am in the same boat. Good luck and happy holidays!
@Cadence
First off, I LOVE your name. Cadence is THE name I have in my head for the far in the future kid. It makes me really happy. :) Second, thanks for the comment. You make a good point with the zero calorie mixers. I was out of luck last night with the Diet Coke, but I will definitely start using it even if I have to bring it with me. Thanks for the suggestions!
I just want to say I think it’s fantastic that you’ve made this decision. Not necessarily what you’ve decided, but the decision itself. You’ve put the control in your hands. And now with the control in your hands, you’re looking for ways to minimize damage beforehand. Making a plan.
Awesome :)
As for low cal/point drinks, I’ve no idea :D
