The best thing about exercise and being healthy is that it can consume you. That can be bad or it can be good when you need something to focus on.

Oh, Merry, hang in there! Your blogs reveal what an awesome person you are: someone who cares about and is interested in other people. That's something money can't buy, although the money will come. Being broke after the frenetic spending of the holidays is something I am not unfamiliar with *cough*.

As for the weight, it's easy to get emotional about the number. That's how I felt when I weighed in at my all-time high in early November. After the initial sting faded, I found it was easier to look at my weight as a personal "project" rather than a judgment on my value as a person. Trying to take the super-emotional component out of it and just chipping away at the pounds is helping me, although I am faaaar, far, far from perfect and have my share of emotional (and weight-related) setbacks.

Break-ups just plain suck! I am virtually passing you a tissue right now. Lots of hugs until the worst has passed and someone worthy of you comes along.

P.S. I want to improve my cooking skills, too :).

@Rosie
Maybe I should come to California!

@Phil
Thank you. I haven't considered doing yoga before but it might be a nice addition for some calming destressing time.
