Validate and Just Breathe (Guest Posts)

Today I am featuring guest blog posts, the first from Shannon who is one half of the Fabulous Fatties. Shannon and Angie are both documenting their weightloss journey through their blog. You can follow them on twitter as well as following the journey on their blog.

Why is it that when we think we have a good idea as soon as someone else agrees it just gets better?  The answer is it just got validated.  To be honest I am in constant need of validation.  Decisions usually set this off for me.  Things like, my clothing choices, my hair style, my job, my car, should I go here, should I go there, do I look fat in this bikini?   If I think about it there is a certain desire for validation in every aspect of my life.  Hopefully I am not the only person who does this because if I am then I could be considered clinically insane!

Other than losing weight and getting healthy, hot and FABULOUS.  This is something that I am trying to work on.  My thoughts are that when my self-image gets in tact I will not feel the need for validation as much.  So I suppose my affirmation for the day is, “I am strong enough, smart enough, more than capable to make decisions on my own and I look hot in this outfit”.  See I already feel better about my day!  A friend of mine sent me this video and I love it so I hope you enjoy it as well.

[Note from Mary: It is a 16 minute long video, but it is GREAT. Seriously, if you can't watch it now come back later. Its worth it.]

It is being weird about embedding the video… so go check it out on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cbk980jV7Ao

[I wanted to share another post from the girls, this one from Angie titled "Just Breathe." ]

Do you ever have a day when you feel like the world is falling down around you? You know how a windshield will get hit with a rock and at fist there is just a chip. As time goes on a crack will spread and then another until the entire windshield is shattered, but still intact. However, you know if you hit one big bump it will fall to pieces. This is how my life is feeling at the moment. Really, it could be a lot worse, but I am having a hell of a time trying to make it work right now. I even tried to smile and offer affirmations and couldn’t pick my mood up. That is supposed to work!

So I started thinking… life doesn’t put road blocks up on positive streets so either I need to rethink my plans or accept the learning opportunities placed before me and tackle each new challenge. When feeling this way is usually when I would say I deserve a big fat greasy cheeseburger, french fries and a shake. Today I have decided I deserve to do something that will really make me feel better. I am taking a healthy lunch from home and focusing on what will really make me feel better, attending to my health and true well being. I am sure you have heard exercise releases endorphins that make you happy… bring on the freakin’ endorphins! I have also heard that drinking water can help with stress and I am willing to give that a try. In yoga they teach that the breath is healing. Right now I am breathing deep and focusing on the beauty in the world around me. Life is meant to work out… sometimes getting there is a challenge, but it will work out.

That is a great video! There are some wonderful lessons in there…

I think blogging is a kind of validation too… I would be terribly lonely without blogging!

I agree, the validation I feel from blogging keeps me going. It gives me somewhere to be accountable and people to be accountable too!
