It’s raining cats and dogs here today. I’m looking out the window through the raindrops into a gray sky that makes me want to crawl back into bed instead of going to exercise. Oopsie daisy. It’s definitely making me wish for days like this.
Winners
But I’ve got a few [random] things to share on this Saturday morning. First, I totally spazzed and didn’t announce the winner of the Scale Giveaway yesterday. Sorry guys! Thanks to the random.org, the winner was Carol Lawrence!! Congratulations! Send me your address and you will have a shiny new scale soon! :)
I’m thinking about doing another giveaway at the end of my stay here. Giveaways are fun! I had a lot of interesting comments on the post about how people measure their progress. Way to go guys!
Flowers
Oh, and look at the flowers I got this week! Totally unrelated to anything health or fitness, but awesome all the same! No one has ever sent me flowers before so I was super excited to get them. Thanks Kepa!
Beautiful, no? I think they are gorgeous!
Workouts
Also, I wanted to post my workouts for this week! I’ve been trying to keep track of all the things I’ve been doing, for my own benefit and I guess for yours too. I have a page for the workouts, to keep track of them week by week if I can remember. So check it out if you are ever curious of what I’m doing (or, um, not doing, as the case may be when I’m lazy).
(Note: my week is Saturday through Friday, since I weigh in on Fridays these days.)
Friday 10/23:
- 1 hour advanced upper body resistance training class
- 20 minutes elliptical with intervals
- 1 hour Zumba class! <3
Thursday 10/22:
- 1 hour lower body conditioning class
- 30 minutes hill intervals
Wednesday 10/21:
- 1 hour walk with a couple minutes jogging
Tuesday 10/20:
- 15 minutes elliptical
- 1 hour lower body conditioning
- 1 hour kickboxing class
Monday 10/19:
- 1 hour upper body resistance training
- 1 hour low impact aerobics
Saturday 10/17:
- 1 hour yoga class
That’s a total of 10 hours and 5 minutes of formal exercise. Woot!! I could have done more but I had a lazy day on Wednesday. I’ve also had to ice my knees twice this week so I’ve cut back a bit because of that.
Do any of you track your workouts? Try to workout more than the week before? I think my goal for next week is to beat 10 hours. I can do it!

Congratulations on the awesome workout accomplishments this week. Your attitude is infectious and your progress is inspiring!
great job! keep up the good work! 1 hour of zumba?! Seriously? Never for me . Lol!
Do you like that Zumba? I just saw a video yesterday on it. It looks like it would sort of be fun to do? Everytime I think of that name – Zumba, I think of my carpet cleaning Roomba. I digress – congrats on the flowers. No one every bought many any either.
you are kickin’ butt! i’m so scared of zumba, i fear i’d be the elaine from seinfeld… lol.
Beautiful flowers and great workout! I do keep track of my work outs on my fitness log at my blog. I set a goal this week to walk 12 miles and so far I’m just over 8. I’ve got a day and a half to get to 12. Setting these weekly goals help keep me focused and on track.
@Diane
THANK YOU! :)
@Barry
I freakin LOVE Zumba. It’s my favorite workout usually. It is really fun, even if you can’t get all the step or do all the moves. The music is fun, and dancing is fun!
@Laura
Oh, don’t be scared! My first class I looked worse than Elaine, promise. But I’m getting better. :) I still don’t always do the right moves and get turned around a bit, but it doesn’t matter because it is sooo fun and it doesn’t matter what you look like. No one will be looking at you.
@Josie
A fitness log is a great idea. I’m going to try it for a while and see how that goes. Weekly goals is another good idea. You can totally get to 12 miles! Good luck!
Beautiful flowers!
You really rocked on your workouts last week girl! Wauw!
I do keep track of my workouts in an Excel sheet and at the Polar site and at Daily mile. I especially like to look back at the end of a year what I did on working out that year. This year is going to be the best one ever!
Love the flowers.. lucky you!!! A way to bring sunshine to your day!
I used to track my workouts when I was younger. Being at this for so long, I can pretty much remember what I did previously & I am one that makes changes every workout anyway. I think logging early on is really helpful not only to have on paper what you did but also as a way to look to improve, challenge yourself & keep it changing to keep the bod guessing. BUT, there, you seem to have lots of options at your disposal!
Keep it up! Doing great!
Beautiful flowers!
Every now and then I’ll track my exercise and do it for a while… I especially love doing that with pedometers and counting the steps I take each day. It always makes me want to get in more steps the day after.
That Kepa is such a sweetie :-) Beautiful flowers!
You’re going great guns with the exercise! I’ve heard good things about Zumba, though I’m a Body Jam girl at heart :D
@Fran
Thanks! Wow, you really keep track! I’ve seen a lot of people using the daily mile. I’ve thought about using it, but sometimes my workouts are so scattered it just seems easier to just write them down on my own. I’m glad you are going to have such a good year. GO YOU!
@Jody – Fit at 51
Yeah I love the flowers. :) Yeah I think logging will be good. It might keep me from skipping too many days! hehe. Even at home I like to do lots of different things, so my workouts are always different. Tracking could help me stay balanced.
@Sagan
I like pedometers for that reason too, but I never seem to wear them more than a few days in a row. I like the feeling of competing against myself to get in more steps.
@Marshmallow
Kepa is the BEST. ;) I love the flowers. … Zumba is awesome. I’ve actually never tried Body Jam. I should try it!
gorg flowers! love them. hey i have been reading blogs from my phone lately and it is hard to comment that way, but i wanted to say i loved your post on love your body day. it was really awesome mary. xo
Dang! 10 hours! That’s awesome! Totally killing it! :) I don’t think I come anywhere near close to that :) I don’t really track my workouts. I keep track of the weights I lift, so I can get an idea of when I should up it, but that’s about it.
And I’m really glad you liked the flowers :)
@Janetha
Thanks! I don’t always get a chance to comment on blogs either, so I totally understand that. But thank you. :)
@Kepa
I should track weights, and probably will when I leave, but since we do the same weights workouts here each time and I use the same weights, there isn’t a point. Maybe later. But yeah. Thanks for the flowers!
Girl, any ONE day of your workouts is more than I did this week. Still doing damage control from Swine sickness last week. I’m getting back on track.
kepa got a LOT of bang for his flowerbucks.
TOTALLY MADE ME SMILE AS WELL.
entirely.
I never was a tracker and always kinda regretted it (ESP WITH THE WEIGHTS).
I just know myself and Im a rebel :) as with the scale I know were I to make a notebook or whatever mandatory during my workouts Id probably workout LESS HARD.
