Another tiring day of walking and walking. I love this whole being active on vacation thing! It’s not what I remember from past family vacations (which were all taken when I was obese and super inactive so that might be why) so it’s a nice change.
MORNING WALK
When we woke up this morning it was snowing quite heavily and looked really beautiful. We decided to go to the park and walk one of the trails first thing and managed to walk a mile into the two mile trail covered in snow before turning around and coming back. I was really proud of my mom going up the hills and through the snow and all. She did great! I didn’t do quite as well – I totally twisted my ankle underneath me on the way back. It’s not too bad but I walked another 3ish miles this afternoon on it and it aches a bit.
Here are some pictures of the trail we walked on this morning.
Not even sure what was going on in that last photo. Honestly. And as for this next one? Well. I was getting my mom to take pictures of me and the said, “Fall down!” I was like, “Really? Are you serious?” She was, apparently she thought it was funny, so I fell down. I suppose you could consider it a reenactment of my ankle twisting incident.
Ha. Haha. Hahaha. Ha. Yeah.
BABY ROCKY’S ADVENTURES
This afternoon we walked through Gatlinburg again. This time we were documenting the “adventures” of my new stuffed black bear, Baby Rocky. I bought Baby Rocky this morning when we stopped by the visitor center at the National Park.
Basically we walked through Gatlinburg and let Baby Rocky pose with all the other black bear statues. They have a thing for bears here.
FOOD AND STUFF
Ah, today’s eating wasn’t so hot. I ate a bagel with cream cheese for breakfast, chips for a snack, three pieces of Pizza Hut pizza for lunch, two more pieces plus a salad for dinner and three cups of hot chocolate. Oh man, that’s not so good at all!! I wasn’t planning on eating so much pizza but we ended up getting a free pizza. My mom wanted it for lunch and since I’m kinda poor due to unemployment I figured I should just eat it! Tomorrow the pizza is out and more healthy choices are in. Balance went completely out the window today with the food choices but tomorrow is a new day. Always a new day.
FACEBOOK PAGE
I was bored today so I made a fan page for my blog on facebook. If you want you can go be a fan! In the future I will figure out cool ways to use facebook (possibly for GIVEAWAYS and stuff I don’t do much on my blog currently). So you know, become a fan now and be prepared for all the awesome to come this year. There will be a lot of awesome!
NEW ZEALAND
OMG. Today I realized I am leaving for New Zealand in five days. I know Kepa has been keeping a countdown for the last 92 days, and it seems lame to start at 5, but I am. I leave in 5 days. Just 5. That’s nothing! And then in exactly one week I will be in New Zealand. If you are wondering about the crazy two days that it is taking me to get there, it is because I am actually spending 12 hours in Australia. I’m going to hang out in Brisbane with the super-cool-for-hanging-out-with-me blogger Annie. So, here begins my little countdown. I AM LEAVING FOR NEW ZEALAND IN FIVE DAYS! Woohoo! :)
We have one more day here in Gatlinburg and then a day of traveling home and then I’m going to be rushing around to get packed and ready for my trip. It’s going to be a crazy week. Hope everyone out there in blogland is doing well!

Oooh, I’m in Brisbane too! But I’ve got Jury Duty for the next two weeks so hanging out is likely to be impossible. Oh well, have fun though!
Oh, that’s too bad! The more the merrier! It would be fun to meet you! Maybe next time?

A countdown? You’re such a copy ;P
I freaking LOVE the “Ummmm” photo and the falling down one! :D
<3!!!!!!!
I am a copy. I just want to make sure I have a reason to post these next couple days or I won’t. And if I don’t I’ll just sit around driving myself crazy about coming, so I need DISTRACTIONS like blogging. And countdowns.
I’m glad you liked the weird ones, haha. :)
We hit Gatlinburg last June and got my daughter one of those bears. She still carries it with her everywhere. It’s so beautiful down there in the Smokey’s. Hope the rest of your vacation is just as fun (although less injury prone). :)

That’s cool. I always buy stuffed animals when I go places. It’s like I’m still a little kid. ;)
What a beautiful walk! I love the photos!
How exciting that you are leaving in 5 days! :)
Five days? Super exciting!!
I’m totally jealous of your walk. That all looks lovely. Meanwhile, here, it’s FREEZING at -40 with windchill… *shudder* I’m still walking a bit but it’s not very enjoyable and I certainly can’t stay outside for very long. Sighs.

What cool pics!!! Looks like a fantastic time!!! OH NO on the ankle though! I hope it is getting better for your very exciting trip to New Zealand!!! You are living life Mary & I am so happy for you! People can learn from this!
When I was VERY YOUNG, my parents took us cross country from Massachusetts to Yellowstone & we had pics of us in the car on the road & the bears right there with us… a different time in the world though but man, I remember it & the Grand Tetons!
Keep on enjoying!
PS: I want to say that I really admire you for doing all this stuff. Not being mean, cause in an email it sounds that way BUT many people that are at your weight refuse to do anything or to live life until they lose all or most of the weight. You are a perfect example of why NOT to do that Mary!

My ankle is fine now, it just hurt that day.
Yeah it wasn’t a lot of snow. I honestly expected more too, but I’m glad there wasn’t more. It was just enough to make everything pretty but still let us do things!
