I’ve been lucky enough in the last six months or so to meet a number of awesome bloggers in real life that I first “met” online. Today I was able to meet two more awesome bloggers who just so happen to live in Auckland, New Zealand (my current location). I went into the blogger meetup excited about meeting everyone (sorry you couldn’t come Marshy, I missed you!) and a little apprehensive about meeting such cool people. I mean, who am I?
The meetup was at the Cornwall Park restaurant in Cornwall Park, a super cool place in Auckland. Kepa and I got there a little bit early and just walked/sat around and I took some photos.
Then when the time to meet was closer we walked toward the restaurant and it turned out everyone was there and we all met under the tree (oh, what a magical moment, hehe). It’s funny how every time I meet someone from the internet it feels like you are seeing an old friend you haven’t seen in a while. You recognize what they look like, who they are, what they are about. It’s like they are an old friend who has just been away on holiday for a while and is now returning.
Those in attendance:
Kepa, of course, because I now am allowed to drag him anywhere I want to go.
Mandy who writes at Staying On Course. I met her through twitter, which is apparently a great way to meet new people. She is an awesome chick.
Andrew who writes the super cool blog Andrew is Getting Fit. His is one of the very first blogs I ever read about being healthier and I’ve loved watching his progress as a runner.
Andrew also brought his wife Sally and their daughter Emma, which was cool because she was so cute and very entertaining.
We all ordered drinks – mine was a green tea because I’m not a coffee drinker. We all had a devonshire tea (scone, jam and whipped cream) – which is delicious:
There was talk of travel and blogging and running and, um, cow tipping, among other things. It was nice to talk with new people who have done and currently do some of the same things I do.
And here we all are, in a proper blogger meetup group photo:

Good times!
After the meetup Kepa and I ate at Burger Fuel and I caught up on some internet stuff like uploading and organizing my photos. Sounds boring right? Well never fear – I needed a boring day because I’m about to have some exciting things happening. What are these exciting things? Well tomorrow we are going on a road trip and next week there will be gloworm caving, kayaking, luging, and bungy jumping. Yeah, that’s right. It’s going to be a freaking crazy week of adventure. I’m so excited I can’t contain myself. So a less exciting afternoon was exactly what I needed. Yeah.
Today’s meetup was fun! Have you ever attended a blogger meetup? Or met other bloggers?

Oooh, that looks like it was fun (those scones look damn good too). Have you ever kayaked before? I’m going to sign up for my university’s kayak club when uni goes back on March 1st. I was never involved at Uni as an undergrad so I figure now is as good a time as any now I’m a grad student. I’m a little bit apprehensive as I’ve never kayaked before and I don’t know any of the members, so I’d love to know how you find it.

I have kayaked a few times before and I love it. A kayak club sounds like it would be AWESOME! Seriously, you will probably have a great time. Kayaking is a great way to get out there and explore nature and get exercise. I’m still not comfortable with the stuff where you turn over under water and flip back up, so I stick to easy rivers and lakes, haha.
Blogger meet ups are so good. I have friends who are bloggers that I met before reading their blogs. But then I had an official blogger meet up two weeks ago and had a blast. It was like we already knew each other. So fun.

Looks like a total blast! I’m just starting to run so thanks for linking to Andrew’s site. Looking forward to reading it. I have been to quite a few meet ups with online peeps. Next week, I’ll be meeting a lot more at a Internet/affiliate marketing business conference in Atlanta. Looking forward to that!
Can’t wait to hear about all your adventures next week.

You have always been so good with children, and that lovely one would win any ones heart. You all look so happy and the pictures are great. I know there is nothing you won’t try but please be careful, and enjoy the caves for me (ha)! Kepa looks so sweet in all his pictures, his smile may be inside sometimes.
Have a wonderful new week, love to both of you…
Haha. Thanks Mom! I’ll take lots of pictures. Good thing I’m not claustrophobic or scared of heights (that much). ;)

Hey Mary!
I’m glad to see that you are having so much fun in NZ! That must be such an interesting experience, to meet other bloggers that you’ve been following!
Have a fantastic weekend!

It’s always great to meet online friends in real life. And jam and whipped cream = yum.
Glowworm caving? That sounds really cool! Generally, I HATE worms, but maybe glowworms would be pretty, especially after my sister had that toy when she was lil. No, I do not believe I have met up with any bloggers in real life. Well, except for the people who I knew in real life anyway, who happen to blog. Devonshire tea looks good. There is a place here in sf that only serves tea services..its super girlie but fun and very tasty.

I’d love to go to a blogger meet-up! I’ve only met one other blogger, but she’s not in the health and fitness genre. My true wish is to attend BlogHer, so that I can meet a lot of my blogging friends.
