Weigh In: Back On Track

SUGAR SUGAR

Apparently you can eat ice cream every day and still lose weight.  At least that’s what went down this week.  ;)  All about moderation, right?  Right?

I must admit though, eating sugar every day has turned Kepa and I into sugar addicts.  We’ve gotten a little bit too used to having sweet stuff every day.  So used to it that we were both having sweet cravings. That just isn’t going to fly so last night instead of giving in we went for a walk and decided to give up the sugar this week.  So, no more ice cream this week.  I may cry myself to sleep at night over the loss of sugary goodness, but it is for the best.

WEEKLY VIDEO

WEIGH IN

The stats, just in case you wanna see them.

Current Weight: 214 lbs
Previous Weight: 216 lbs
Weight loss: -2 lbs
Weight loss in Feb: -2 lbs
Starting Weight: 251 lbs
Weight loss total: -37 lbs

Woohoo!  I’m only three pounds away from losing 40, my next goal.  Perhaps it will happen soon?  I’m hoping so.  I’m thinking so.

THOUGHTS

I honestly was super stoked about this week on the scale.  I’m back on the slide down to being under 200 lbs – my original goal for starting.  I have a lot of other goals too, of course. Like no longer being “obese.”  Kepa hit that particular milestone yesterday and I’m super proud of him.  I can’t wait til I hit it too.  Or at the very least am not obese.

That being said, because of my height, I am finally no longer “morbidly obese” and am just “severely” obese.  Go me!  Hehe.  Next, regular obesity and then on to just being overweight!  The journey continues…

Whoo hooo! Those are some good results. It’s always nice when the scale gives us little gifts like a loss when we’ve been eating ice cream all week? As long as we don’t get used to it then it’s okay, right? lol

The problem is I totally got used to it. Ahh! So this week I’m taking a break from sugar. It’s like I’m in rehab.

Reply

9 Mary Lutz February 8, 2010 at 7:46 am

It IS like being in rehab! It is an addiction to food and I believe food addiction is harder (okay, just as hard) to fight as drug or alcohol addiction because we HAVE to eat!

Poor Kepa, he looked so, well can’t really explain how he looked. Maybe you should fix breakfast for him tomorrow. He is so sweet to fix you breakfast.
I am proud of your loss, and when you stop eating all those things you have told me not to have in the house then you might have a big big loss. Ha! only you can understand that remark…..
Thought Jack had left the building, but alas he is back. Oh well we can always hope.
Gotta go, the half time at the super bowl is on..

That is freaking awesome!!!! Your mom was right! ;) That’s an awesome loss! I enjoyed talking with you about it this morning. While we have had ice cream everyday, we weren’t crazy like in Taupo and Rotorua. And the walking has been good. We should go on another walk tonight if it doesn’t rain and you’re feeling upto it.

And that’s awesome you’re out of the morbidly obese classification. I remember when I got out of there I was so happy! That “morbid” thing sucks. We’re gonna have a great cookie… I mean week… ;)

YAY! Congratulations.

I like that you ate ice cream and lost weight. Tonight I had chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. I’m hoping it will have the same effect as it had on you. Tehehe. (You ARE endorsing ice cream-eating, aren’t you?)

PS BloooooggggHeeeeerrrr! It’s calling to you and says that you should come to it.

Nice Job! I find when I snack on chocolate throughout the week, only 50 calorie pieces once a day.. I CRAVE chocolate throughout the follow days like mad.

I think they’re addicting, no?

Like smoking? I don’t smoke though. :)

I don’t think I’ll buy anymore chocolate for awhile.

I too am somewhat addicted to sweets right now so I’m anxious to hear how your week goes. From all I read, we are to “give it up” – detox and supposedly after a few days, it will be OK and not craved any longer. Whew, hard to imagine a day w/o chocolate but somethings got to change for me so keep us posted.

I am going to match you on that! Usually every night I save 300 calories in my daily allowance to have my Kemps Icecream cup. I usually have it before bed. i bet it is not the best thing to have before bed. I want my body to burn fat, not sugar. So I am going to cut it out and eat something very healthy before bed. Like fruit. Plus I am not going to eat after 8:00pm. Again I want my body to feed on itself. Does that sounds strange? Keep up the good work!

Sweet! Yeah for giving up some sugar. It’s probably comforting for you when you eat it before going to bed and that’s why you love it so much… maybe you should find another habit that feels comforting and substitute it. Perhaps eating is not even the reason you do it? Just a thought. ;)

That doesn’t sound strange at all. I’ve written about how being hungry before going to bed is a good thing and getting used to that will help you lose weight because your body is burning the fat on your body, not what’s in your stomach.

It really is all about moderation! And I am a bit addicted to sugar myself. Ice cream is a big weakness of mine. Broke down yesterday and had some but I don’t look at it as a failure because I am not depriving myself of all good things. Because it is about moderation.

That’s not a failure at all! Not even! You shouldn’t be depriving yourself of good things. You might not want to eat them as often or in huge quantities, but there is no reason why you should never have ice cream again. Seriously. That’s ridiculous and thinking you should do that is why diets never work. Doing what you did isn’t failure but a total success – moderation is the way to live a healthy life forever. :)

Reply

40 Mary February 9, 2010 at 3:20 am

Haha. Don’t kneel too much. I will allow sweets on Valentine’s day, because well, it’s a special day for me and Kepa convinced me we should. It will be nice. Every other day? Negative!

I know about those sugar cravings! We had a snow day here Saturday, so I made chocolate chip pancakes and sausage for the fam. I stopped having french toast, pancakes, muffins and waffles for breakfast long ago, b/c I just end up craving sugar all day long. Sure enough… I sugared my way through the snow day. It’s back to wheat toast and peanut butter for me!

Congrats! I suppose you can get a lil addicted to sugar. I used to not eat desserts very often but the past few years living with my best friend who has a sweet tooth, it’s taught me to want a lil something desserty every nite. Growing up, desserts were special occasion and now they’re every day. But, that’s not a bad thing. I guess I need that to get a lil sweeter. :)
