$50 iHerb Shopping Spree Giveaway

by Mary on March 9, 2010

in Link Love & Giveaways

A few weeks ago Abby from iHerb.com contacted me offering a $50 shopping spree on their site for me and for one of my readers.  Honestly I wasn’t sure what to think of that because I had no idea what iHerb sold.  Did I really need $50 of vitamins?  I already have vitamins!  It turns out that they carry a ton of useful, natural products that are great if you are trying to live healthier.  They have everything from vitamins (my first thought) to herbal supplements to natural and organic foods to beauty products.

It sounded like a cool deal and I couldn’t pass up $50 worth of useful stuff (that’s right FTC, I got stuff).   I had a little bit of trouble deciding what to get when I was ordering because there was so much to chose from!! I’m a terribly indecisive person so it was almost overwhelming to be faced with nearly 18,000 natural products I’ve never tried before.  It’s really easy to go through the site and find information and products you want… it’s just hard to make a decision if you are like me.

But after 3 hours of looking through almost everything on the site possible (totally not necessary but I liked looking through everything), and I ended up ordering these things:

iherb shopping spree

Snacks: wild berry mix, snack chips, pineapple rings

iherb shopping spree

Breakfast stuff: muesli (I guess I ordered two bags!), and whole grain pancake/waffle mix

iherb shopping spree

Dessert things: whey protein brownie mix, organic chocolate chip cookie mix

iherb shopping spree

Other things: oat bran, pumpkin seeds, whole grain kamut spirals, red wine vinegar

iherb shopping spree

Skin care: olive and green tea soap, skin cream, coconut oil

And here is the whole lot of it:

iherb shopping spree

Yep, I got all of that stuff with my little iHerb shopping spree. I’ll be reviewing the food products individually on my food blog as I use them.  The shopping and checkout process was super easy, plus orders over $40 have free shipping.  If you aren’t sure about shopping there, check out their Top 10 Reasons to Shop at iHerb.  I’ll definitely be using the site again since it was so easy and my order came to the house quickly.

THE GIVEAWAY

Ok, so the deal was that I had to register and order $50 worth of stuff then get reimbursed and write my review of the process so that one of you can have a $50 shopping spree too.   Now you get the chance to enter to win by doing one or all of the following things:

1.   Leave a comment telling me what you want to buy from iHerb and why.

2.  Tweet about the contest saying:

I want to win a $50 @iherb shopping spree from @amerrylife! Check it out: http://bit.ly/bm2Oi1

Then come back and leave a comment telling me you did so.

3.  Blog about the giveaway on your blog using this code:

<p>Check out the $50 shopping spree giveaway on <a href=”http://amerrylife.com/”>Mary’s Weight Loss Blog</a>! I can win an $50 Shopping Spree Giveaway from <a href=”http://www.iherb.com/”>iHerb.com</a> and so can you! <a href=”http://amerrylife.com/2010/03/09/50-dollar-iherb-shopping-spree-giveaway”>Click here for contest details</a>!</p>

It will look like this…

Check out the $50 shopping spree giveaway on Mary’s Weight Loss Blog! I can win an $50 Shopping Spree Giveaway from iHerb.com and so can you! Click here for contest details!

Then come back here and leave a comment telling me you did it.

So really all you have to do is comment!  The tweets and links and such just get you extra entries if you are interested in increasing your chances to win.  If you choose those options you have to comment in a separate comment telling me you did them. So each entry will be a separate comment.  I am only looking at comments when I do the final random number selection for the winner (instead of breaking out spreadsheets and all that extra work for me). So for example if you tweet but don’t leave me a separate comment then it won’t count.  Easy enough, right?

AN EXTRA SURPRISE!

For the winner and everyone else, here’s a little special treat from me to you: a $5 coupon code.  The winner can use this coupon code to get an extra $5 worth of product on your intial order.  And everyone else can use my coupon code LIF903 at checkout to get $5 off your first purchase at iHerb!  So even if you don’t win $50 worth of stuff you at least get $5!

FINE PRINT

The giveaway is open to anyone, regardless of where you live. From iHerb regarding the giveaway: For US and International Residents it would require that the winner register to the iHerb website and we’ll take care of sending their products for free as well as shipping and handling. If an international reader wins, they are responsible for any customs fees, duties and taxes.  So for all your foreigners, it’s not completely free.  But you can win!

You have until next Monday at midnight to enter.  The winner will be chosen on Tuesday March 16.  Good luck!

I would absolutely love to win this (like everyone else)! I would choose mostly food products. I love Kamut pasta so that would definitely be one of them. I would also look for a vegetarian vitamin to help me with my energy and health since switching to a veg diet, and look into some of the beauty products. I don’t want to pick every thing out right now because then I’ll want to buy it regardless of if I win the giveaway, and that would be bad for my wallet, haha :)

We live in an area where the closest Whole Foods/Trader Joe’s type stores are an hour away. The best natural and organic selection is whatever piddly amount the local chain grocery has. We do a lot of our shopping for our daughter’s food online, so that’s why I am super glad to find out about iHerb! I can’t believe the selection they have.

Most of it are products that I’ve always wanted to try, but either haven’t been able to find or haven’t been willing to dish out the cash for a highly-priced product that could be awful.
