A Merry Workout Pledge! #amerryworkoutpledge

Wow. I’m really excited about going to the gym today. I honestly can’t wait to get on the treadmill. And that’s because of all of you. You guys have made my need to get back into things a community event.  Thanks to my love it’s a worldwide event even.  I feel like when I’m on the treadmill I won’t be alone because these people are joining me (either tonight or when they can):

Did I miss anyone? I tried to find everyone that said they would  be joining in. Because these people are awesome!  Some of them are doing extra time on top of what I’m doing. I’m floored by how amazing they all are to join me and motivate me even further in something that was going to be just about getting me active again. I said I needed motivation and you guys provided it. A lot of it.

You can still join us too!  Just commit to it in the comments and then do it when you can!

And here’s the final time count: 180 comments, which is 90 minutes

1 hour and 30 minutes

That’s right. It’s a good chunk of time and more than most of us do when we normally do cardio. Guess that’s why it’s a challenge, eh?

Get on your treadmill, elliptical, bike, or walk or run outside. It’s up to you to choose the medium because the time is set. :)  Side note: Don’t try to overdo it. If you aren’t able to workout that long then don’t do it. I don’t want anyone to get hurt, so just do what you can or break it up into chunks! It still counts!

I’m starting at 4:15 pm central time and will be on the treadmill for a while, obviously. I’ll be tweeting (but not responding because I can’t see replies) while I’m doing it. You can join in using the hashtag #amerryworkoutpledge.

If you complete the challenge take a photo afterwards and/or just write about it (on your own blog or here). I’ll have a full recap post of the event tomorrow (maybe?). Whenever you do it, if it’s not today, just let me know about your post and/or photos for the event. Yeah, that’s right, it feels like an event now. Which is super crazy awesome! I’m off to get ready and hit the treadmill by 4.  Good luck to everyone!

Update: If you can, track your distance and let me know how much you did. It will be fun to add up. :)

You are totally right. I never expected that either. I just thought I’d write a post and convince myself to go get on a bike for twenty minutes or something.

This is A MILLION TIMES BETTER!

I’m probably going to regret this, but I’ll join the challenge. I need to get myself to the gym tonight and this is one more thing to get me motivated! :) Good luck!

The way the world has changed, I was telling my friend at work about your challenge, and how when we were young (long ago) we knew a few friends in our neighborhood and we did things together. We would go to a movie or drive around the parking lot at the Frishes (like sonic) on Friday night, and that was a big weekend, now you talk to people all over the world and have no problem visiting them. It is so amazing to me and you are amazing to me! I have put in 30 minutes of walking on my two breaks, so I have an hour to go, I will do that before Church tonight. Mom

awesome. I can’t start mine till around 6:30 tonight, but 1.5 hours is a perfect time goal for me as I’m training for a 10k on the 11th. The last time I did 6 miles it took me 1 hr and 45 minutes…so I’m going to challenge myself tonight to get it all in under the 90 minutes.

Good luck Mary, look forward to reading your recap!

How fun was this!? I was on the treadmill at the YMCA for 45 minutes with you – would have been on longer but the limit is 30 minutes and at 45 I was getting some serious “looks”. lol Walked a little over 2miles on a 7 incline for most of it so felt pretty good. :)

I just read your Mom’s post and it almost made me tear up (and I hate crying). That’s awesome that she’s doing it with you!

Anyway, for officialness (on your blog): 7.53 miles in 90 minutes with only a one minute walk (though I did take 1 minute to get water after that fated 60 minute treadmill termination thing) and then a few seconds to snap pics.

10K accomplished! I’m more than halfway to a half marathon!

WTG Mary! This workout pledge thing turned into something very awesome. I did 45 mins of bootcamp yesterday morning, but my schedule didn’t let me get the 90 mins for the pledge in until today.
Today’s plan is: 60mins with my personal trainer, + 30 minute run later today = 90 mins for the pledge!
I will blog all about it later today once I’ve gotten it all done.
What do you have planned for your Thursday workout follow up?

I did it too! The first hour I focused on intervals of going fast and getting my heart rate up and then slowing down. I did 4 miles in that first hour. In the last half hour I kept my speed low and just focused on having the incline high enough to keep my heart rate up, so I had it at a 6.0 for the most part and did 1.5 miles for a total of 5.5 miles. Woo hoo!

Hello Mary! I just finished my matching workout pledge. I actually did it in two portions today because I had my daughter to care for so 90 minutes in one stretch didn’t work. This is what I did:

Part #1:
Stationary bike – 15 minutes, a little over 2 miles (lost track of mileage)
Completed C25K Week #2 Workout #3 and then walked until I hit 30 minutes – 2.01 miles
Stationary bike – 15 minutes, a little over 2 miles (lost track of mileage :) )

Part #2: I waited until dark. Then I did the second portion of my workout. Needless to say I really enjoyed this. I put my daughter in her PJs and armed her with a flashlight, blanket, cup, and milk. I then took her out in her wagon for a walk in the dark. Needless to say she loved it. I think I loved it more. When I hit the block close to home we had been gone for 30 minutes. She wanted to go again but it was getting late.

The second part of the workout will now be a weekly event for us because we both loved it so much.

Thanks again girl!
