It’s been a while since I weighed in! But it’s that time now, at the end of the month. I start my EPIC road trip next week on Thursday, so this is the end of Oregon/Operation Sexification weigh in. It’s also the weigh in to start my trip on and see how that one goes! Haha.
My last weigh in was on May 30, basically a month ago! So how did I do this week? This month? Check out the video and the numbers.
(Going by my Youtube videos, it’s my 17th check in. Hehe. That’s sooo official like, except completely off because I’m so inconsistent with videos.)
Weigh In (Monthly)
Current Weight: 207.4 lbs
Previous Weight: 211.4 lbs
Weight loss: – 4.0 lbs
Weight loss Total: – 43.6 lbs
Starting Weight: 251
Woohoo! Plateau over! Weight loss over 40 pounds! Yeah!
Goals for last week:
1. Drink my full blue bottle each day. (Or equivalent, since I’m out a lot.)
2. Get at least 30 minutes of movement/exercise in each day. (I miss one day! Grrr!)
3. Do girly pushups every day.
4. Cook one new recipe this week. (Hurray experiments!) (Mmm, zucchini crisps.)
5. Enjoy the last full weekend in Oregon/Jessi’s birthday weekend! (Currently happening!)
Goals for this week:
1. Drink enough water each day! Stay hydrated!
2. Make it to San Fransisco to see Foodie McBody in one piece!
Thoughts
I’m so happy to be past where I was stuck for several months. I feel really good about how I’m eating and what I’m doing. My weight loss is a good pace for me at 1 lb per week on average. Considering that is with very, very minimal exercise, I’m pretty excited. I think I’ve finally figured out the eating aspect of it all. Cutting out sugar for the most part has been really good for me. It’s cut out extra snacks and cravings for the most part, but I still get to eat sweets on the weekend. It’s a really easy system to live with, especially when you spend most of your time with someone who supports it (thanks to Jessi for that!).
I’m also less worried about the upcoming road trip because of my success lately. I’m less worried that I was because I’ve been eating out a lot here in Oregon. It wasn’t intentional, but we tend to eat out more here than I did at home. I like it because it’s forced me to figure out how to make good choices in restaurants, balancing what I’d like to eat and what I know would be good for me. I’m not scared about the road trip other than the sodium. I know that after the trip I’ll be retaining a ton of water (it happens) but I’m quite sure now that I won’t actually gain any weight on the trip (I can’t say the same for Kepa…hahaha).
I’m really looking forward to all the things coming up in the next few weeks. I’m going to meet quite a few bloggers that I adore and haven’t met yet. I’m going to explore the country. I’m going to Disneyland! I hope you stick around and subscribe to hear more about everything. ;)

Yay! Congrats Mary! I’m glad you’ve got so much to look forward to and that you’re over your plateau. The road trip without weight gain is definitely doable – and you can have a ton of fun while you’re at it!

I’m very happy for you Mary. Plateaus can be discouraging for sure. I like to think of them as transition phases where the body is just getting a few things in order before moving on
I’d love to know what sort of progression your making in the pushups too.
They can be discouraging, but I didn’t want to let it. I think it was most definitely my body getting used to things and adjusting and now it’s ready to move on. That happens and I’m almost grateful for it.
I’m doing well with pushups. Still on teh girly ones though and looking to soon start doing more real pushups!
Congratulations! And you are so right about how foods can change your brain – the way sugar is for you is the way bread is for me. I have it, then suddenly I just want to eat eat eat everything in sight. But without it, I’m able to listen to my body.
Have a wonderful road trip to CA! I think as long as you keep a small cooler with lots of fresh snacks (fruit, veggies, crystal lite, etc) by your side then it should be smooth sailing. I’m sure you’ll be at 200 sooner than you realize!

I had a cooler on my last road trip and that worked well but I’m trying a different strategy for this one and just not having any snacks around and then making healthy choices for main meals. I think that will end up being just as well as it would if I had snacks around. I don’t tend to snack much unless I’m bored, which I won’t be.
Congrats! :) It’s nice to hear these good news!
I’m sure you’ll manage the trip wonderfully – also due to your confidence!

Great job. That’s right on track for a 2 lb a week loss. If we could all lose 2 lbs per week we would be healthier in no time.
Mary,
That is awesome!
I hear a lot of people say that about sugar. I get that way if I eat protein and everyone looks at me weird when I say that.
Anyway, congrats on the weight loss and I bet you will break that 200 barrier real soon :)
Well done! It sounds like you ahve a great system going for you and an understanding of why it works.
I can’t wait to read posts about the roadtrip :)

yay for plateau busting! I am hoping to kick 172 to the curb soon, been stuck here for over a month at least.
I agree on the sugar thing, I cut it out completely, just makes me feel bad when I eat it. Made me wonder how long that was true and I just didn’t even pay attention!

I admire people who has a good plan and is working on it religiously. Congratulations to you and I know that you will reach your goal in no time.
Great job mary.
YOu are doing so well. Love the progress you’ve made. Have fun on your trip!
Congratulations!!!! I have to do the low sugar thing too because one is too many and a thousand is never enough when it comes to sugary things. The only sweets I eat now are one I make and make with natural sugars like honey. These two “rules” work wonders for me.

You know, Mary? I think getting past the weight plateau is great, btu I think you’ve made even more progress in other areas, too. I can’t quantify it;l and I can’t qualify it, but I really believe that you have a better frame of mind and everything.
I loved this line, by the way:
“…balancing what I’d like to eat and what I know would be good for me”
So perfect!
Keep up the amazing transformation.

I would most definitely agree with that and say that it’s only because of those changes I made elsewhere that I even got past the plateau.
Congratulations!! You are absolutely right about the sugar. For me, I just have to try and stay away from it alltogether – that includes fruit and any kind of white bread or anything with white flour which your body metabolizes exactly like sugar – go figure.. Sugar makes me hungry hungry hungry! Once I was able to eliminate most of it (and the awful cravings/wanting to binge) my weight has consistantly dropped and most importantly I don’t feel like I’m deprived or fighting my body constantly. Here is a really excellent article I came across that talks about all that: http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/compulsive-overeating-and-how-to-stop-it
Keep it up! You can do it!!!
Yay! Great job on the goals! ( I tried some new recipies this past week too!). I don’t think me making it to oakland this weekend will happen…(I have only gone to oakland maybe 4 times the whole almost 4 yrs ive lived here..) but if you come into SF let me know. The good thing for you is that oakland is way hotter than sf, where we’re often chilly (except last Sunday it was hot yay). Oh youre going to disneyland? That sounds so fun. Ive been to disneyworld a long time ago and loved it. Youre gonna have so much fun on your trip :)
