This weekend has been an interesting one. We normally don’t do much on the weekends, but on Saturday we went to an amateur mixed martial arts fight. It was all bouncers so the event was called King of the Doors.

The picture above was probably one of my favorite parts… before the fighting began there was a group that did a war dance in one ring while the fighters were in another. I have a thing for war/fight dances. Okay, and for fighting. While this particular event sucked because it was poorly planned and drug on for hours with long gaps of no entertainment, the overall feeling at a fight is crazy fun. And I like watching fighting. If UFC ever comes to New Zealand I’m going!
Another thing I did this weekend? I made a video! Please watch it?
Hope you have a great weekend! :)
Anyone else love fighting?

Young lady, you are sooo damn cute! I love your sweetness and your ability to giggle and make faces at yourself instead of being a nasty grumpus when you have a challenge. Good for you! You’ve come so very far and I’m proud of you. Thanks for your continued inspiration. :-)

You’re welcome! And thank YOU for the compliment and encouragement. :)
Mary you are so cute on camera- a real beauty!
And there is something very captivating about you….I think you should consider doing more video/tv someday :)
Cheers!
Aw, thank you! I don’t know about that… I have terrible stage fright! I’m slightly scared to do videos but I’m trying to do them so I improve that skill and work on the fear. You know, bettering myself. ;) It helps to here that people like it!
Thanks! :)
hey Mary,
first, you are super cure so keep videoing away! I love to see you face – you make the greatest faces while you vlog – love the eyebrow wiggles!
second – I totally get the weighin/scale thing – I wanted to give up the scale but that is just as hard as weighing every week….hmmmm…
third – I LOVE fighting – boxing, mma, all the real stuff (not wrestling) but I only really get to watch it on tv. I did go to a midget boxing thing once
love ya lots! jen

I gain weight as well whenever I stop holding myself accountable to my weight. You are still amazing even with 3 extra lbs ;)

I love your video blogs!
You might find losing weight over the holidays easier now that you’re in NZ. I found it incredibly easy last Christmas because it was so bloody hot that I never wanted to eat anything besides salad and fruit. It’s the winter that gets me!
Don’t beat yourself up for missing a workout or two. The good thing is you still have a while before your Triathlon. I think it’s awesome that you’re doing it! The swimming and walk/run bits I can do..it’s the biking. The seat hurts my butt!
I’m never sure exactly HOW to plan for things going wrong…..do you have a way of doing that? Share?
Keep up the good work!

I’m the same way with seasons. The hotter it’s been getting the less I’ve been wanting to eat. Something about winter makes me want to eat and hibernate. So you might be right about the switch in seasons and it being easier to lose weight. :)
The seat on my bike hurts my butt too. It’s a tiny seat and painful after a while. I’m getting used to it though, or at least trying to!
How funny, I watched some UFC fights this weekend too! But on tv, so probably not quite as exciting. I think your goals are great, good luck keeping up!
Aww, I love the video. Usually I don’t watch blogger videos but for some reason I thought I’d just check yours out and i have to say that it was awesome. You’re so personable and vulnerable on it which makes you inspiring!
Aw, thanks Diana!
Heh – I’ve actually never been to a live fight – I’m not sure if I’d enjoy it or not. I love *learning* martial arts (pretty much everything except the sparring – at which I *SUCK*), but just watching it for anything other than to analyse the technique doesn’t appeal.
Unfortunately, the sound on my PC seems to have gone wonky, so I can’t actually hear what you’re saying on your video… but you do look awesome in it!

Completely. Being asked to speak at Fitbloggin through me into an anxiety ridden state until I realized I couldn’t go anyway. Vlog is easy… you get as many tries as you need to get it right, plus you can edit. ;)
Hey There,

One public speaking suggestion I’d make is to avoid using “umm” and “and” as connectors. It doesn’t have to be one long sentence. This is a great exercise to do and you’re doing a wonderful job, seeming very light and amusing. Best of luck in the coming week and with your other goals.
It can be a bit daunting can’t it speaking in public, I used to have to do it when I was in the Union, had to talk to cranky members…hahah
