The Return of Sunday Sports

Señor Kitty curled up and slept the afternoon away.

While I was tempted to do the same – Sunday naps are the BEST – I decided to go with Kepa to Sunday Sports instead.

sunday sports

Sunday Sports is just the weekly (or every so often) get together of Kepa and his mates and their  friends and siblings to play sports together casually. I went once before last year but didn’t play much because it was my first time playing rugby and I was slow and got tired quickly.

This time it went much better!

We got there early so Kepa could teach me how to pass the rugby ball properly.

This is how I feel about my rugby skills:

I’m not exactly good now but I’m learning. I need a lot of practice passing so I can get better. We played one game of touch rugby when everyone showed up. I wasn’t very good and they all yelled girl when I got it which sucked but it at least gave me a chance since they gave me a few pity seconds to run/play. I’ve got to work on my rugby skills so they don’t feel the need to do that any longer.

After we played a touch rugby game we played a game of touch American/NFL football. I’ve been playing football with my brothers and friends since I was a kid so I was much better at that game! I caught a few passes and ran a bit and almost had an interception.

Must have been because I was representing with my Titans shirt!

Overall it was a really awesome afternoon. I spent about three solid hours moving and running and playing which translates into a great workout.  I love workouts that are fun and don’t feel like work. Playing sports is definitely a good way to do that.  I’m glad I went!

I’m going to start going to Sunday Sports with Kepa and friends regularly. It’s a fun way to get in some extra cardio for the week. And it will eventually help me cross of learning rugby from my life list (maybe… I might never understand it!)!

What have you done this weekend?

I haven’t played touch rugby in years! It’s such fun, and of course great exercise. One of these days we’ll initiate you in the joys and mysteries of cricket too! That’s a fun “pick-up” game to play.

Haha. I doubt I’ll ever want to play cricket. I’ve got no interest and just prefer baseball. I’m so American. ;)

That looks like fun. Rugby is a little rough – I probably would rather play touch football myself. After your good and worn out you can go home and take a nice Sunday nap!

Your little kitty is just gorgeous! I had lots of naps with my little kitty this weekend. Too many naps, really, but I blame the full on eating fest that was my friends thanksgiving dinner. Back at the gym today!

I am just starting out. Wish I had the energy to do all that but I would more than likely chose the nap. lol

You are just starting out so cut yourself some slack! No need to go play sports for 3 hours, although it is fun. ;)

HI Mary. I ADORE the photo of your kitty. So cute!!! We are all about football here in Canada, it’s Grey Cup Sunday and our local BC Lions are going for the cup to close out the season. Have a great week, and give that gorgeous kitty of yours a scratch behind his ears from across the miles!!!
