Day 14 of the AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge* was great because it felt like I was really back on the challenge for real. Also, I realized I only have 10 days left. Is it wrong to already be planning a trip to my favorite BBQ restaurant down the street? I don’t eat there all the time but it’s calling my name after this challenge!
AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge Day 14 Food
Wakeup: Spark*! I had a new flavor: mango strawberry. So good! I am so glad I ordered new flavors because the orange just doesn’t excited me even though it does give me energy.
This picture totally sums me up because it has some of my favorite things: “just because” flowers, Memphis Grizzlies gear, and Shark Tank. I love pretty things, Memphis, and entrepreneurship!!
Breakfast: Had my chocolate meal replacement shake* for breakfast in my blender bottle* again. Breakfast is so easy! I totally drink it on the go most mornings and finished my breakfast as I pulled into the church parking lot.
Lunch: For lunch I cooked a frozen chicken breast on the George Foreman grill* and added it to a salad with chicken. For dressing I tried out a light italian, which was just ok. I’ve never been a huge fan of Italian dressing so I didn’t use much. What you can see in the picture was then mixed through the whole salad to coat everything ever so slightly.
Snacks: Just more cough drops. A lingering cough is one of my least favorite things about being sick.
Dinner: I didn’t take a picture of my plate because I was eating with people again, but I did take this picture of the guacamole the talented chef made.
I even posted about it on Instagram because it was totally the highlight of my dinner! Made just the way I like it: avocado, red onion, tomato, cilanto, pepper, red pepper flakes, and lots of lime juice. So very tasty!
For dinner we had turkey tacos. The host was very nice to make the turkey taco meat with lower sodium seasonings for us. I ended up making one taco on a corn tortilla with turkey meat, guac, and topped with red onions, cilanto, and lime. On the side I had black beans topped with red onions, lime juice, cilantro, and cayenne pepper. Seriously delicious meal and so flavorful!
AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge Day 14 Fitness
Since I felt slightly better I decided to do a bit of exercise but not much. I did squats and leg lifts at home and also did a tiny, tiny bit of ab work. Nothing intense and no cardio since I was saving that for Monday.
AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge Day 14 Thoughts
Day 14 was a great day on the challenge. I started feeling better, ate delicious and healthy food, and spent lots of time with people I love. I like to call Sunday my family day and that’s exactly what it is. I spend time with my church family and my real family (including JuJu). It’s always one of my favorite days of the week – even when I have to do chores and clean on Sundays!
One huge victory came with dinner. Because we were eating with other people we didn’t have total control of the menu. That meant a delicious cake with chocolate frosting was made for dessert. After dinner I wanted some of the cake SO BADLY. I even mentioned it out loud because I really wanted a slice. Everyone had their slice of cake while I retied to watching basketball with just a bottle of water.
At first the desire for cake was so strong because the smell was everywhere and it was right in front of my face. But as time passed and I reminded myself how committed I am to this AdvoCare 24 Day challenge process, the cravings subsided. After a while I didn’t even want the cake. I went into the kitchen to refill my water bottled and looked at the cake on the counter without any of the same desire to eat it.
Every time I do something that pushes me closer to my ultimate goals I feel a sense of satisfaction. This is something that previously has been missing so I’m incredibly happy to have this coming from within now when I make positive choices. I’ll have cake again one day, but I definitely didn’t need it this day and every day!
