I love the 10 Day Herbal Cleanse from Advocare. I’ve done it twice and coached a couple people through it as well. It’s one of the only cleanses I’ll do because it’s both gentle and effective – the perfect combo for a cleanse!
What is the AdvoCare 10 Day Cleanse?
During the cleanse you eat clean, minimally processed food and take AdvoCare products. This cleanses your body of toxins and restores good gut bacteria, and gets you ready for living and eating optimally. During the cleanse you have detailed instructions on what to do and a grocery list of approved foods to eat. You’ll avoid coffee, dairy, and alcohol during the 10 days.
On average the cleanse results in a 5 to 12 pound weight loss. Personally I have seen 7-8 pounds and much more energy. I always feel so much better after the cleanse which is why I do 1 or 2 a year now.
Tips for a Successful AdvoCare 10 Day Cleanse
1. Get prepared.
Being prepared for the cleanse is the most important part in being successful. Before you start the cleanse take an afternoon to make a grocery list and go shopping. Stock up on healthy foods approved for the cleanse like lean proteins, veggies, fruits, eggs, nuts, hummus, and similar. Do a food prep where you wash and chop the veggies, bake chicken and other proteins, and boil some eggs. Cook a few meals a head of time that you can use during the week for lunches if that helps you. Getting everything ready before you start the cleanse will help you have the most successful experience. It’s a lot easier to stick to the plan when you have everything all ready and don’t have to think about it!
2. Commit to the cleanse.
By this I mean make the decision to really follow the instructions exactly. You’re paying money and making the decision to do something healthy for yourself. Once you’ve made the investment to do the cleanse commit to doing it the best way possible. Tell people around you that you are doing the cleanse. Write down the steps and days on a big wall calendar. Blog about the 10 day cleanse. Get a group to sign up and do the cleanse with you. Do whatever you need to do to hold yourself accountable and be committed to completing the cleanse.
3. Remove temptations.
Before you do the cleanse you should remove as many temptations from your life as possible. Remove alcohol and sweets and chips from your house while you are doing the cleanse. Removing these temptations will make it so much easier to complete the cleanse. It’s only 10 days so you’ll definitely be able to last that long without those temptations.
4. Measure yourself.
Before you start the cleanse… take your measurements! You’ll definitely know it works no matter what, but it helps to have concrete measurements to use to evaluate the cleanse results. Weigh yourself and take your measurements in inches before you start. Using more than one measuring stick will help you evaluate your results without getting focused on one. You’ll be thrilled that you’ve lost pounds and inches off your body!
5. Drink lots of water.
Drinking water is crucial while you are doing the cleanse. It helps to stop your hunger and flush your body of all the bad stuff. Keep water with you 24/7 during the cleanse and drink it often. Drinking more water will stop you from feeling hungry or getting into the mood to eat while bored. It also helps when you do feel hungry and want to wait a while until the next meal. During the cleanse I drink between 100 and 120 ounces of water a day.
6. Drink fiber quickly.
A lot of people dislike the Fiber drink on AdvoCare because it’s hard to drink at first. The citrus flavor can be pulpy and will get thick if you let it sit too long. I recommend getting the Peaches n Cream flavor. If you end up with the citrus, then plan to mix it quickly and drink it quickly. Mix it with the smallest amount of water necessary and then drink more water later if needed. It’s not the most fun part of the experience but it’s super effective!
7. Stay busy.
Staying busy during the cleanse is very helpful. A lot of us eat while we are bored or have down time, so keeping busy helps remove this temptation. Plan lots of activities during the cleanse. Focus on activities that are active and involve movement to get the most bang out of your buck during the cleanse. Since you’ll have your food prepped and ready to go you should be able to eat well and stick to a busy lifestyle during the cleanse. It’s definitely been helpful to me to stay busy and not allow myself a lot of bored downtime around food!
7. Adopt the habits.
When the cleanse ends, don’t go cray and jump back into your old habits completely. Adopt the habits that you had during the cleanse while loosening up a bit. Have splurges and eat out for special occasions, but don’t dive straight back into those bad habits that got you to a bad place to begin with. Continue to eat clean and try to keep a more balanced approach to eating after you are done with the cleanse. Also consider trying the 24 Day Challenge or using other AdvoCare products to support your healthier lifestyle after the cleanse.
Hopefully these tips will get you through the 10 day cleanse with no problems. It’s definitely a great tool to have in your overall wellness toolkit and is something you can do multiple times per year if you want.
