Dinner At Lone Star

by Mary

We ate at Lone Star tonight.

Had some delicious bread to start… it was crunchy on the outside then so soft and warm on the inside when you cut into it.

I had two slices of the bread because it was carbilicious.

We also split a plate of ribs. They weren’t the best I’ve ever had, but for eating ribs in New Zealand they weren’t bad.

ribs

Only had one rib.

Then Kepa and I split a steak and a “cajun” (meaning it had bbq sauce, eh) chicken dish with fries/potatoes.

Yummy! The steak was very good as were the potatoes and the “coleslaw” that came with it. Very different from any coleslaw I’ve ever had so I actually liked it.

Didn’t have dessert… just watched Kepa and Marshy eat their. Yay no sugar?

That bread looks delish. How was the coleslaw different? I don’t see it on the plates..

It was buried under a mound of potatoes.

I’m not sure even what was in it.. but it wasn’t like regular coleslaw.

@merri: There were several things different about the coleslaw – firstly, it’s made with red cabbage, then it’s got finely diced celery, pumpkin seeds, corn kernels, spinach(?), a bit of spring onion, and some other ingredients that I haven’t quite figured out yet. I’ve been trying to replicate it at home without any luck! You can see it on the rigtht in this picture: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v443/Mmmarshmallow/AYGTET/STA44248.jpg

@Mary – this is what the chocolate mousse used to look like!
