Loving Tuimato Sauce. And Caramel Slices.

by Mary

Today Kepa spent another day at home to get over his cold. It was nice to hang out again even if he was still sick. :(

He made a frittata for breakfast with chicken and random veggies. I had one big slice…

And then another smaller slice.

The frittata was so delicious! I love frittatas. And I used Tuimato sauce instead of ketchup to top off the frittata.

I’m basically in LOVE with this Tuimato sauce. In New Zealand they use tomato sauce instead of ketchup for the most part and it makes me sad because I love ketchup and the tomato sauce they have here just isn’t the same. So Kepa found this Tuimato sauce – it’s tomato sauce with BEER in it. It’s from the company that makes Tui beer, hence the name Tuimato sauce.

From their website about the sauce: We all know the boys and mates love tomato sauce – it goes with most of their major food groups (BBQ, Fish and chips, bacon and eggs, pies). The name Tuimato itself is a play on words. This coupled with the great taste and with a splash of their favourite beer, gives the boys another worthy Tui ‘Products’ on the table.

Yes! It’s so good!

For lunch we had nachos again. The only meal I made all day. ;) Simple and yummy.

For a snack I ate some muesli with natural greek yogurt and a spoonful of blackcurrant jam.

Kepa made a delicious beef, artichoke, and potato salad for dinner:

It was steak, potatoes, artichoke hearts, and salad with a delicious dressing on top. I had a good sized portion and then a little bit more that I didn’t photograph.

Sooooo good. The artichokes were a nice touch and the dressing was amazing. Kepa is a great cook and I really appreciate when he makes meals for all of us! You can get the exact recipe for it on his blog.

After dinner Kepa, his mom, and I went out for coffee to Esquires Coffee. Since I don’t drink coffee I got a hot chocolate. And a caramel slice.

YUM

I’ve never seen caramel slices anywhere else (maybe because I don’t go to coffee shops?) but they are everywhere here. I tried them the first time because they are mostly chocolate with some caramel thrown in. But now that I’ve found this caramel slice I’m in love with the mostly caramel aspect.  This one has a small white chocolate top layer, lots of caramel, and then a small crust layer.  It’s so good!  Esquires Coffee is a lovely coffee place with good drinks and sweets. ;)

I played around with my photos tonight before posting them. Took a few extra minutes but it was fun. You like? I still don’t take completely clear or focused photos with Kepa’s camera so I’m trying to make them worth looking at.

Today I started selling things/services on fiverr.com. For five bucks I’ll do something for you and earn money for my tragically empty wedding fund. I’m trying to come up with more ideas on what to offer, so my question for the day is…

What would you pay five bucks for?

I’m so glad you liked dinner and breakfast :) I loved the nachos, as you know! (two days in a row!)

I’d pay $5 to have someone help me organize the side bar of my blog.

This is a really fun idea! I’d never even heard of fiverr.com. Hmmm…let’s see..what would I pay $5.00 for??? Have you thought about guest post spots on one of your blogs? That could be fun! I’m sure lots of people would do it, if for nothing else, to support you and your wedding fund! :)

So what is the diff between the regular tomato sauce and our ketchup? I am not a fan of beer, but I would try it. Sometimes beer tastes better as an ingredient than an actual drink. That hot chocolate is so pretty!! Ive never had a caramel slice (or heard of one) but it looks pretty too! Yes, I do like the photos.

I personally believe Ketchup has more herbs in it, changing the flavour but i’m not sure

How adorable is the pattern on your hot chocolate? Oooh!
