New Plates

by Mary

I went to the Salvation Army thrift store today and when I was there I saw that they had a ton of super cheap plates. I picked up one from all the sets I liked (sorry to whoever buys the sets) to use for the food blog. The cashier thoughts I was crazy.

I like them! They should make the food blogging thing more fun. It’s already pretty fun because I never realized the creativity that can go into food preparation. I love anything with room for creativity, so I’ve really enjoyed learning to cook. I’m ordering a new battery charger for my nikon, so eventually the photography bit will match the food in creativity.

As usual, im reading your blog at work and cant watch the video. But I LOVE mismatched dishes! I find it very boring to have the same exact thing four times over (or three, if you count our plate set with one broken). Unfortunately, most people like a real set, so since I have never lived alone, ive never gotten to have my mismatched set. One day probably. A billion years ago, when I was supposed to be moving in with a friend who later backed out, we went to the salvation army near her house and picked out lots of interesting dishes for our new place. It was very homey getting those old dishes, and there was a huge selection there. We never used them since we never became roomies, and I have no idea what happened to them. But fun idea.

AHAHAHA I had a similar idea, but couldn’t figure out where to go to get single cheap plates. Thanks for the idea! When the unplanned-extra-mumblemumph-dollars that we spent while away on vacation are back in the bank, I’ll definitely be going to get some old-new plates!
