Review: Mammoth Supply Co Yoghurt (aka the best yogurt EVER)

by Mary

The other day we went to our favorite local grocery store to pick up a couple items we needed. While we were there we stumbled upon a guy giving out samples. This isn’t the norm at our grocery store. In fact, it rarely happens. So anytime we see a sample we get excited because it’s rare here and usually it’s good stuff. We never tend to buy the samples but we are always grateful for the bite or two.

This food available for sample was from Mammoth Supply Co. They had four types of yogurt and iced coffees available. I chose to try the apple blueberry yogurt. The guy handed me a full 80g cup of yogurt to try (instead of just a tiny sample) and Kepa had another type. After trying both kinds we were sold. We bought some yogurt on the spot. Two kinds actually.

And since then we’ve bought every flavor. And Kepa tried the iced cofffee. And we had some of the ice cream. We are slightly obsessed with this brand.

My absolute favorite though is the first thing I tried: Apple Blueberry Yogurt. Er, Apple Blueberry Yoghurt. (I will never get used to putting an h in yogurt.)

It’s not just yogurt though. The Apple & Blueberry Yogurt has dried apple, dried blueberry, buckwheat, linseed, quinoa, sunflower sees, pearl barley, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds. A ton of great stuff.

Once you open the package you mix up the fruit, grains, and seeds with the thick yogurt. It’s pretty heavy so I wouldn’t eat a whole container at once, but it’s pretty filling with all the variety in there.

I tend to eat about 150 g as a serving which comes around to 226 calories. A good sized snack!

Unfortunately it’s a little higher in fat and sugar than I would like, but that’s part of why it’s so freaking delicious.

This company really knows how to make food. The grocery store sample was the first we had heard of them but now we love them. I really like there branding and the packaging on the containers. They appear to be marketing the products to men with their slogan “Real Man Food, Man!” and the hilarious “Rules for Men” on each package. The website continues this manly man advertising.

Though I’m a little bit out of their target market I definitely appreciate yogurt that is actually filling. Lite yogurt has it’s place, sure, but this stuff will beat it in taste every time. It’s so good. My only problem is trying to keep some of it for myself before Kepa devours it.

So, if you are American… I’m sorry. It’s a kiwi brand that is only here for now.

If you are a Kiwi… go buy and try this stuff! It’s awesome!

I’ve tried the mango/passionfruit one, and it was very creamy and delish. It is a bit higher in saturated fat than I am keen on–I guess that’s the added cream that does that.

Yeah, that’s my only gripe with it – the saturated fat. But the cream makes it all creamy and delicious so it’s a bit of a trade off.

That looks good. I would try it. But I cant. I think its annoying when foods put theyre for men or women. There is a really stupid light yogurt women commercial out right now. I forget the brand. It isnt as blatent to say for women as this yogurt is for men though. But I guess theyre trying to say that yogurt is seen as traditionally a womens food so this yogurt is for men too.
