Subway Sandwiches and Donut Holes

by Mary

This morning I made a english muffin with turkey lunch meat, american cheese, and mayo.  Making turkey and cheese english muffins is easy and I enjoy them.  It’s not cereal so I feel a little bit better about eating them for some reason.

Then for lunch I ate a turkey burger without bread and some rice chips.

I also ate the rest of my green grapes for lunch.

Green Grapes

Yummy!  I love green grapes!!  For the longest time I was anti grapes because I hated grape flavored things (koolaid, popsicles, lollipops, medicine, etc).  I was so wrong about grapes!  They are delicious!  I love them and still hate grape flavored things.

For dinner I was all set to make a salad, according to my super awesome meal planning for the week, but then my mom went to Subway and brought me home stuff so I changed my mind and went with it.  I had 6 inch Subway turkey sub with Hot Pepper Relish (from Lenny’s Sup Shop, haha) and garden salsa Sun Chips.  I can’t say I missed my salad.  I love turkey sub sandwiches with hot pepper relish.  I discovered it at Lenny’s a while back and had to buy a jar of it because I love it so much.

Then I had a chocolate donut hole.

And in a moment of weakness I had 5 more.  Ugh.  I wish I didn’t have to write that. I wish it hadn’t happened.  I wish I could lie and say I only ate one like I had planned.  But I didn’t so I’m sticking with honesty here.  Donut holes attack!

Bah.

I’ve been working out after dinner lately and then having a snack after my workout.  I suppose I’ve just switched having a snack in the afternoon for having one later, before bed.  Tonight for my snack I had a little bit of hot chocolate (didn’t drink all I made) and half a bagel with whipped cream cheese.

Yep.

I hear ya on the grape thing. I’m the same with cherry. I like raw cherries, can’t stand cooked ones or cherry-flavoured anything.

Do you find now that you’re eating more protein in with breakfast you feel fuller longer? (I thought I was the only one that did that.)

Oddly enough I like strawberry flavored things more than actual strawberries. That is the only one that’s like that.

I do. I like the more protein at breakfast because it keeps me full long enough that I eat a later lunch then don’t need to snack after.

Its weird because grape flavored things tastes NOTHING like grapes. Who even thought of making that flavor called grape when its not at all? So strange.. I love turkey burgers! Subway is my ‘I didn’t have time to go to the grocery store and get lunch stuff’ place. Its right outside my work, so I can run over there quick, since I really don’t have time for lunchbreak, and its SO CHEAP! $5 footlong! That’s 2 sandwiches for $5. and if you tell them to put everything on it, its really vegegabley and filling.
Oh and on the protein thing, I def noticed the difference when I started eating my protein cereal in the morning vs the oatmeal I used to eat. Its so much more filling and I have way more energy. (i dont even want a morning snack like i used to eat). When they give us free muffins or bagels at work 2x a month and I eat those, I feel so slumpy throughout the morning, because I’m missing my protein. Ive read it also helps to focus your attention, which I always need!

I have no idea. Grape flavoring scared me away from eating grapes for a long time until I realized that grapes don’t actually taste like that!

Yeah I love subway. Sandwich for 2.50? Yes please!
