I’ll be posting more about Thanksgiving in full later, I just wanted to introduce you to the star of our meal and a new holiday tradition: candied pecans.
I made them on a whim because we had extra pecans to use and I’ve been obsessed lately with making savory items into candy (tortillas, nuts, etc.).
We had them along with crackers and cheese for appetizers and it was one of the best things all night. Everyone loved them. They were gone quickly.

The best part is that these are so easy to make! All you need is pecans, egg white, water, sugar, cinnamon, salt.
Here’s the recipe. And my slight changes: Preheat oven to 250 F/120 C. Whisk together one egg white with 1 tbsp of water until frothy. Add pecans to the mix and stir to coat the pecans thoroughly. In a separate dish combine 1 cup of sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, and 3/4 tsp salt. Remove the nuts from their bowl and toss them in the sugar mixture until thoroughly coated. Spread the nuts on a greased baking sheet. Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes or so. Enjoy. You will. I promise.
These are so delicious and perfect for the holiday season. I will be making more and giving them as Christmas gifts. :)
Happy Thanksgiving!
