Valentine’s Day Eats

by Mary

The morning started out with Eggs Benedict that Kepa made me because he is super sweet and awesome.  It was freaking delicious too.  He used prosciutto for the topping.

For lunch I made us sandwiches. Kepa’s had a ton more stuff on it. Mine just had hummus on one side, cream cheese on the other, lettuce, green pepper, and chicken. Yum.

And since I’m back on sugar for now, after the sandwich I ate one of the cookies Kepa saved me a peanut butter and chocolate chip cookie from the ones we made a few days ago. Oh yes, with a glass of milk and my vitamin.

Then K’s mom came back from vacation with a bunch of different fudges! Woot! Had a couple bites from the passionfruit fudge and the apricot fudge, which was good and tasted like apricot.

She also brought home some Twisties which I tried a few because I had no idea what they were. Apparently they are just like cheese puffs. With a penguin on the package.

For dinner we went out to eat because it was Valentine’s Day and seemed like a fabulous idea. We had Mexican – my FAVORITE!

Started off with a Margarita …

We split an appetizer but I forgot to take a picture until the very end… I ate this one plus another. (Filled with chicken and prawns.)

I also ordered a tequila sunset… a very yummy sweet drink. If I’m going to drink tequila I want one of these, although I always go for a margarita anyway.

I had a chicken chimichanga for dinner. Not the best one ever, but hey, it’s Mexican food in New Zealand. It wasn’t bad, considering.

Dessert at the mexican place was the best part of the meal. We had churros with hot chocolate sauce… sooo freaking good. We almost skipped out on it because the service took forever, but I’m glad we didn’t. Worth it. So worth it.

I guess once I get on sugar, I really get on it. So we split another dessert at Movenpicks, an ice cream shop. We had a brownie with caramel ice cream. I at my half of the brownie and a few spoons of ice cream and then drank a hot chocolate. Had a sugar meltdown. Too much!

Might have had a little bit too much sugar for the night, after not having any all week. But overall it was a fabulous dinner and a great day of food (taste wise… healthy wise? maybe not the best).

Did you know that it’s a straight world without twisties?

I had no idea.

Ooh the eggs look good. And fancy. Oh cute penguin lol. Wow, that is a lot of sugar..did you pass out? If I eat too much sugar, esp without eating enough real food as a base, I actually pass out. Hey though you deserved it after all those sugarless days. I love mexican too.

I didn’t pass out, but I definitely made myself sick. I’m going back to less sugar now.
