As the title states, we have food again. I dedicated my morning hours to grocery shopping!
Since I woke up late this morning so I just grabbed something quick – half a bagel with whipped cream cheese.
For lunch I made chicken salad (chicken, green grapes, walnuts, greek yogurt, and mayo) for me and my mom. I ate mine on salad greens with the rest of my greek yogurt cup with some honey and granola.
Snacky time was three tablespoons of trail mix stuff (will post a review tomorrow) and a cup of gingerbread flavored hot chocolate (made with 1/2 milk 1/2 water).
Yum. That pic is darker than I thought. Ooops!
For dinner I ate salmon with potato wedges and wilted spinach. Yumtastic.
Then after dinner for a litle sweetness I ate my last strawberry jello cheesecake snack. Sad!
I will miss them but can’t afford to get more. Grocery shopping today made me sad… good food costs that much? I need a tip jar on my blog or something so people can buy me apples. Geez.

Mm yogurt in your tunafish? That sounds good actually. I really don’t like mayo at all. Sometimes im able to stomach it in a chicken salad sandwich or tuna but even not so much then. But something like yogurt might be a good alternative. Good groceries ARE expensive. Roomie & I were at the store last nite and we needed eggs. They were on sale for $1.99 but those were the regular ones. Roomie said hmm do organic eggs count? (since we’re trying to eat healthier) and I said: sadly, yes… remember the movie and the poor chickens have to be in those dark houses with no beaks? So we got the cheapest organic eggs there, which were $4. This whole trying to eat healthier slash help the animals thing can get $$$. We recently had to break down and buy unorganic chicken which is against our new groceries policy but we got packages of SO much more meat for still less than the organic one at wholefoods which would be around a quarter of that meat. I think its worth it when you can swing the extra $ for the better food tho it tastes better its healthier and its supposed to be better conditions for the animals and plants. But its just hard to have that extra $ sometimes!
Well, yogurt in my chicken salad. Haha. The yogurt just gives it more protein with less calories. It’s actually really good.
Organic stuff costs sooo much more! I can eat healthier, but all organic? Couldn’t afford that.
Yeah, I can’t afford organic either. But sometimes I’ll grab a couple organic things (tofu, etc.) at Trader Joe’s since the prices are reasonable.
Yeah, I try to grab organic stuff where I can. But I just can’t do it completely. I wish we had a Trader Joe’s around here!
oops thats what i meant. i dont know why i said tuna. either way, it sounds good. lol.
ya, with the help of whole foods down the street, trying to do more organic. its mostly not organic. since it does cost way more. and not everything can come organic. But even for stuff like cookie dough, ive started getting the cookie dough from the bakery around the corner. Its barely more than the store kind, tastes way better, and is made out of actual real life ingredients instead of chemicals (the store cookie dough says chocolate chip cookie flavored!! What is that??ew!).
LOVE grapes in my chicken salad! Grocery shopping is so tricky. Just keep reminding yourself of the money your spending on whole, nourishing, healthy foods for yourself and how much it will save you down the road as you’re healthier and living life how you want!
That’s a good way to look at it Lillian. Thanks!
And I’m trying a versions of the salad you made with tofu (since I don’t eat meat)!! Thanks!
