Why am I doing this?
- Research shows that just keeping track of what you do can improve your health
- More activity throughout the day leads to more calories burned
- I have an activity tracker already and it needs to be used
- Setting a goal for myself gives me something to work towards
There are a lot of reasons to wear an activity tracker and that’s why it’s such a great healthy Christmas gift idea. Wearable technology is both fascinating and super useful when you are trying to figure out what you need to do to achieve your goals. If you like to make things measurable and accountable, then I highly recommend wearing some type of fitness tracker.
Yesterday I finished up my goal at 11:45 pm. I hit 13,073 steps!
Steps for the day: 13,073
“Quite an active day. You will improve your health levels if you continue like this.”
Activity for the day:
- walked JuJu around our block (.6 miles)
- walked JuJu at the park for 1 hour
- light chores and housekeeping
Most of my activity for the day came from walking JuJu. I didn’t feel like going to the gym so I just made sure to more more throughout the day and then took JuJu for a walk and to the dog park at Shelby Farms. We spent roughly an hour there looping around the trails while I walked and she ran/swam/played/chased/sniffed/had the time of her life.
It was my brother’s introduction to the dog park so he can take his niecedog JuJu there on occasion without me. They had a great time running and meeting other dogs and people. It was also a great way to get in activity as I racked up thousands of steps while we were there. I’m so grateful for the nice weather and beautiful foliage right now!
While I feel short of my goal on Sunday I knew I would hit it yesterday and every day this week. I’m feeling positive about wearing my loop and ready to incorporate the amount of activity needed to hit my steps goal.
If you are also challenging yourself to hit a steps goal each day I hope it’s going well! Let me know if you’ve found any creative ways to be more active throughout the day!
