I wanted to share a text message conversation I had with the oldest of my younger brothers last night. In my family my weight is generally something that is no longer brought up. When we were all in middle school it was a constant topic of torture for me, but those days are long gone and it is rarely commented on by my brothers (unless they get mad and feel the need to revert to their days of being middle school bullies). So this conversation was really encouraging and made me happy that my brother is who he is now.
Me: How much do you run a week? [[This conversation started because my friend asked about my brother’s running. He has been running lately and dropped twenty pounds and looks a lot better. So that is originally why I was asking.]]
Brother: Depends… y?
Me: I was just wondering? I need to be inspired to lose about 40 lbs. Haha.
Brother: Haha I run at intervals on the treadmill. You could do that or use the elliptical.
Me: Yeah, elliptical. Running is hard when you are fat. Maybe one day. Seriously though, I gain weight when I’m at home so I gotta stop it.
Brother: Just keep exercising.
Me: Yeah I know.
Brother: Haha I’m trying to do the same thing. I’m with ya.
Me: Yeah but you have been doing good!
Brother: Its not hard. Just make a playlist on your ipod and that will help you I promise.
Me: Yeah that should help. I just need some encouragement.
Brother: You can do it I promise. Just stay at the gym after you work and then work out. Its better than being home and you will feel better promise.
Me: True that. I was doing that for a while before the holidays. They just got me all off track and fatter haha.
Brother: I hear ya, just get back into it.
Me: Yeah. I’m just so tired of being fat now. I don’t even know what being normal is like.
Brother: Use that as motivation.
