2016 In Review

January 9, 2017 by Mary

The last few days I’ve had an urge to write blog posts. After so much time away from blogging I wasn’t quite sure what I’d even blog about. Then I realized after doing multiple year end recaps, I really just wanted to continue my tradition of looking back my year as a whole.

2016 In Review

This was a year of change. Lots and lots of change happened this year.

new years engagement

I started the year, literally on the first day, by saying I’d marry this cool guy.

Then… we did get married!

married

And we also bought our first home.

bought-a-house

Which I totally adore after having so many different addresses in the last decade! I’m ready for spring to come to give it a colorful new look with pretty blooms.

I started a new job this year that was totally different and new for me.

christmas-party

It’s been a fun adventure of learning how to accept my flaws and throw myself into learning how to do new things. They also have pretty fun Christmas parties as you can see ^^

I discovered a new-to-me way to travel this year thanks to our honeymoon. I now love cruises!

honeymoon

There is something so fantastic about being on the water. We’ve actually planned a cruise in Alaska for 2017 so I’m counting down the days until my next cruise.

I gained a new sister-in-law this year! I always wanted sisters growing up so I’m blessed to be getting them finally.

Then she helped me change my looks with her amazing hair coloring skills (seriously, she is color master).

I tried highlights but then changed to a pretty red ombre.

And then I changed to purple, which is my current color. It was the year of trying new things.

Some things that didn’t change this year?

kayaked-a-lot

I loved kayaking! I actually bought a kayak and my little banana enjoyed many river trips. Some trips were better than others. Let’s not talk about the one disastrous trip where I got pushed into a bush full of spiders which then crawled all over me and then was half a foot from stepping on a poisonous snake hiding in a field. Let’s just not talk about it.

living-in-memphis

I loved living in Memphis. Perhaps it’s the feeling of knowing I live half a mile away from both family and friends. Or knowing I’ll almost run into someone I know when I go out. Or maybe just the cost of living. But I love living here and love all the fantastic ways the city has been changing and growing in the last few years.

subshine

I spent as much time outside in the sunshine as possible. The dog park Juju and I love has become my favorite lunch spot. Weather permitting I spend my lunch hour outside every day. It’s the best!

2016 Top Posts
