3 Day Weekend Recovery

Y’all, Memorial Day weekend was a really fun time. So fun in fact, that I’m still tired from it. Today has felt harder than a Monday which makes me grateful that it’s a short week!

3 day weekend festivities:

This weekend was jam packed with activities. I probably could have used another day or two. ;) Here’s what I was up to this weekend:

Cookouts. Lots of cookouts! I went to several cookouts which all lasted for hours and had lots of food options surrounding the traditional hamburgers and hot dogs. It was great to get to see so many people and spend time together. Cookouts are such a great reason to get together… and eat delicious food.

Cornhole. At cookouts there always multiple game options of things like volleyball and cornhole. This weekend I dedicated myself to playing cornhole at every cookout I attended.

If you’ve never heard of cornhole before, here’s what Wikipedia says about it: Cornhole is a lawn game in which players take turns throwing bags of corn at a raised platform with a hole in the far end. A bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the platform scores 1 point. Play continues until a team or player reaches the score of 21.

By the last cookout on Monday I was pretty good and had several rounds where 3 of my 4 bags went in the hole to score my team a lot of points. It was super fun once I was competitive enough to play well!

Anniversary. While I won’t be blogging much about my boyfriend, we celebrated our one year anniversary this weekend. I introduced him to Indian food and we exchanged gifts (I got him a smoker, so excited!). It was awesome to have a 3 day weekend to share so there was plenty of time to celebrate a great year.

No computer. For this 3 day weekend I decided to tuck my computer into it’s bag and let it stay there. That meant no work and no blogging and no time spent reading everything on the internet. Several times during the weekend I wanted to resist and grab my computer but it ended up being a fantastic break. I think I might take computer-free weekends more often!

3 day weekend recovery:

Today has been all about recovering from the three day weekend that tired me out (by Monday I was falling asleep in the late afternoon!) Part of that recovery is stepping away from the hamburgers and hot dogs to a healthier meal plan.

salad for lunch yo

Healthy food! For lunch I shared on instagram the salad I ordered with grilled chicken sans dressing. This was an experiment in trying out the salad options near where I work so I know where to go when I forget my lunch (this happens at least once a week). So far I’ve found two decent options that can give me a fresh salad in a pinch. I liked this one because it included a lot of extra veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, cucumber, tomato, carrots, etc. It was really colorful and included more variety than other salads I’ve tried nearby.

Water! Another huge thing I’ve been doing today is DRINKING ALL THE WATER. Over the weekend I battled dehydration a couple of times after playing games and being in the sun for hours without enough water. That’s never good for me so I’ve tried to get back to my normal habits and hydrations levels today. Once I get home I’ll be making a batch of delicious fruit-infused water to enjoy this evening.

I’m also planning on an early night and plenty of sleep tonight. I can’t wait! Hope you all had a great 2 or 3 day weekend! moving
