Thanks so much for the love and encouragment on my post yesterday about being a crybaby not an emotional eater. There is always an adjustment period when you move to a new place and for me last week was a rough week. I’ve lived in enough places – 4 different states and now 3 different countries – that I’m used to it. But that doesn’t mean I’m not going to get frustrated or miss things and people from home. Because I’ve been so many places and loved so many people I’m always missing someone or another. Luckily new people always manage to enter my life and create new friendships to fill my heart up. And over time the new frustrating things become routine and comfortable. Time heals everything, even if it solves nothing.
Merry Go Round
News: I’m now considering going to Fitbloggin11. I’d have to do some serious work and saving, but it would be a great business trip/fun blogger reunion/family stopover visit. And I would get to teach people (newbies even!) about blogging. I love, love, love teaching people about blogging and one of goals is to speak at a blogging conference, which means I’m really considering it now. I’m just a bit hesitant since I’m based in the land of the kiwis now. Will you be there?
Blogging Tip: Link internally! Link to your old blog posts and pages as much as you can when you are posting new stuff. This gives you an SEO boost and it gives readers relevant content to read if they want. Be sure to use (This tip is as much a reminder for me as it is a tip…I don’t do it nearly as much as I should!) For more blogging tips, check out my health blogging e-book!
Favorite Product: Nerd Fitness’ Rebel Fitness Guide. I was hoping to be able to do a review by today but there is just soo much good information packed into this thing I still haven’t finished reading it. I’m completely awed by how much value Steve managed to pack into this thing. I know how much work it takes to write and produce an e-book so it’s quite impressive. I’m loving reading it and promise I’ll finish this weekend and do a full review next week.
Favorite Link: Rachel Wilkerson’s post about owning everything you do. She kick-started a ton of healthy living bloggers to follow her lead and tell the world “Sorry, I’m not sorry” for their actions. I love the empowerment. We should own our actions and stop being sorry for them. Thanks for the reminder Rachel!
Recipes on the food blog: Mmm, yummy week this week. Best things: Roasted balsamic brussel sprouts and thai green curry chicken; Mini Oreo Cheesecakes (these were a big hit with everyone)
Have a great weekend everyone! :)
I am going to fitbloggin! I can’t wait. I am looking forward to meeting so many of my favorite bloggers and hopefully, you will be one of them!
I hope you decide to go to Fitbloggin!! I am definitely going this time. And, I’m guessing that there aren’t too many lame organs that could go out on you next year :)
Haha. I still have kidney stones left that could do something. ;)
I am going to Fitbloggin! I’d love to meet you and learn all your have to share. I have your book and am slowly devouring it as I contemplate self hosting.
I can’t wait to go because it is my first conference and I have wanted to go since reading your posts about it last year.
Thanks for the shout-out!! I love seeing all the inspiring posts bloggers are writing — I appreciate you sharing the message! :)
I’m not going to fitbloggin, but I think it’d be a great opportunity. I give you major credit. Not only did you make a move but you basically flipped life around–night is day, summer is winter. Considering how many miles from home you are I think it’s only natural to experience some wild emotions right off the bat!
I’m going to FitBloggin! I can’t wait because it’s in Baltimore which is so close to DC. I was at HLS and had SO much fun!
Hey Mary, just checkin in on you considering you all just had a hecka earthquake. Are you okay?
Let us know.
I’m okay! Earthquake was on the south island and I live on the north island. So nothing affected us at all and I didn’t even know about it until friends started sending me messages!
Thanks for the concern. <3
I’m really hoping to go to FitBloggin so I hope that you’ll be there!
What’s this about an earthquake? We’re about to get a hurricane here in Nova Scotia – I hope all is well.
Can they even have fitbloggin’ without you Mary? I would want to meet you if I went! I’m glad you’re contemplating it – its next summer right?
And one more time, I reallly love the Mary Go Round Friday format. Your bloggin tips and link love rock.
Yeah the earthquake hit the other island here. no fun! I guess we get lots of earthquakes here though, more than I did in Memphis!
It’s next summer and I could speak so I’m really considering it. Since it’s a long way off I’d be able to save up for it. But since it’s next spring/summer it’s closer to the wedding so I don’t know. I’m flip flopping on the idea big time.
I’m glad you like it! I like it too, it’s fun to write. :)
I looked and you’re about 436 miles away as the crow flies from Christchurch, right? So maybe you didn’t feel the impact super strong, but I think you probably felt it somewhat.
We didn’t feel it all, possibly because we were asleep. So it didn’t affect us at all.
Hey, what did you bring down there… earthquakes are for where I am!!! Hope you all are safe & sound!!!!
As for this post, I LOVE Sorry, I am not sorry!!!! I need to practice that!!!
Apparently I picked up earthquakes in SoCal and brought them with me to NZ!
Hey! We were sleeping and because we are so far away we didn’t even feel it. I’m feeling bad for everyone in Christchurch, it looks pretty bad down there.
your site is owsome.very useful informaion.now i learn few more thing.thank you for creating useful ideas.
I live in baltimore and I have not decided on Fitbloggin. $$$$!!!! But I do hope to meet you this time :)! Bring your Kiwi!
Thanks so much for the link to Rachel’s post about owning–I’m guilty of saying, “Sorry, sorry, sorry,” sometimes, but I’m working on it! I’ve just been reminded to practice being unapologetically me more often :)
Have a good week!
