Friday Five

July 15, 2011 by Mary

This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure for details.

One of the best things about working at a web design place is that it’s got a more fun, relaxed environment than a corporate office.

I mean, my boss took this photo on a work related field trip the other day.

We have fun while we are getting stuff done. That’s one of my favorite things about it.

5 Things I Ate or Drank Today

  • Egg and sausage on english muffin
  • Green tea
  • Egg roll
  • Wonton Soup
  • Spicy Thai food (chicken and peppers/onions with rice) from Jasmine

5 Things That Have Made Today Great

  • I’m feeling happy, peaceful, excited.
  • All our meetings at work today have been great. I even got to stand for the first one.
  • I tried out an awesome treadmill desk setup.
  • I ate Thai food at a restaurant I had not previously visited in Memphis. It was a really delicious lunch.
  • I already have a yummy dinner prepared for tonight.

Seriously, today has been great. Fridays always are but I loved today!

5 Things Always Packed In My Gym Bag

  • Deodorant
  • Paper and pen to record workout (I do this but SUCK at putting it in Daily Mile)
  • Polar Heart Rate Monitor
  • Change of clothes
  • A fitness magazine to read

I love my Polar gym bag. It’s badass and always has these things in it.

5 Songs I Just Listened to on Pandora

  • Syndicate – The Fray
  • Simon – Lifehouse
  • It’s Beginning To Get To Me – Snow Patrol
  • Happiness – The Fray
  • Gone – Jack Johnson

(This is my working music. I <3 Snow Patrol, reminds me of my study abroad semester.)

Yeah. I’m wanting more and more to live in the real world. I think this is coming from the fact that sometimes I get jealous and/or insecure about my place in social media when I compare myself to other bloggers. That is ridiculous since I’ve never wanted to be popular or even blog “famous”… I’ve just wanted to share my story. That’s still my only goal. Sometimes you can get caught up in the game of blogging and I want to keep taking steps away from that. I never want to be a full time blogger. I’ve already sort of tried out that life and I didn’t enjoy it. So my goal is to keep blogging, but just care less about the whole online world. I’d rather try to make my clients succeed and be popular than to do it for myself. I’ve always been a better behind the scenes girl anyway. ;)

Your turn. Love y’all!

See – LOOK at your eyebrows in that picture. PERFECTION!

You are hilarious with the eyebrows thing. :)

I will stop obsessing. I obsess about other people’s eyebrows because I’m so blonde, mine are almost non-existent. I mean, I have them, but they just aren’t very defined.

    Awesome,,,,,
one of my biggest goals for the summer
is to spend LESS time on computer and reading blogs and
more time in real world with real people and books instead of
    blogs.
I have a bit of a blog reading addiction and am considering
taking August as a detox and banning myself form reading blogs
(I think this would be very hard to do, which is why i perhaps should
go cold turkey. Life is too short for me to read about others lives’ rather
than living my own…. not that there is anything wrong with blogs.
And yours is definitely in my top ten!!Love your blog!)

Totally. I’d be super sad if you weren’t commenting on my blogs anymore because I love your comments, but I’d totally understand. I feel less that way about blogs and more social media because I can get sucked into it way too easy then spend 10-20 minutes reading generally useless updates on hundreds of peoples lives. It’s NOT how I should be spending my life.

Super cute pic, love the hat!!! I work for a video game company and think the same thing. The conversations would be bizarre for anyone else (“so, how are those monsters coming along?” or “I want the sword to sound more like a light sabre” and the like). It’s still serious business to meet our deadlines and goals, but getting there is more fun. And I could show up to work in PJs if I wanted to…

Sounds similar to our office. Drop a normal person in and the convos would make no sense and be way too geeky, but we do great work and we are serious about what we do. :)

I love not having a dress code. I wear jeans every day.

I like doing your five things but today is kinda a non-day, recovering from an awesome vacation and catching up at work so I’ll pretend it’s last Friday, when I was back in san diego on vacation and answer them. 5 things I ate or drank today – 1) giant raspberry cornmeal pancake 2) iced coffee in a jam jar 3) scrambled eggs 4) sausage 5) fresh fish tacos 5 things that made today (Friday) great – 1) waking up in san diego 2) brunch at a cool place w my best friend 3) wearing shorts and a tank 4) long, good workout 5) spending time w new & old friends I cant see often five things always packed in my gym bag 1) little towel 2) ipod holder that goes on my arm 3) gym pants 4) gym shirt 5) lock. I don’t listen to Pandora. My brain is too tired to think of what I want to do in the future right now.
