Today has been a busy day for me. I headed down to the book sale to support my local public library. I spent $2.25 and got a couple cool books that I will probably read while I am on a bike at the gym.
I also took my dogs for a walk, which I don’t do that often. They are a little bit crazy and hard to walk but I managed to get a nice little walk in with the female. She has a funny habit of grabbing the leash in her mouth and acting like she is walking me. We look ridiculous but I enjoy walking her over our male dogs. Regardless of which one I am walking it is quite a workout. Despite weighing 200 pounds more than the dogs they still manage to pull me and force me to use some muscle to control them.
I also signed up for the BlogHer conference. Shout out to FB who convinced me I am a real blogger and should go. I am super excited about going to learn more about blogging (excited about the sessions!) and meet some of the cool people I read. I am also very excited that it is in Chicago. I have wanted to visit Chicago for years and I the conference finally gave me a good reason to go. I might try to stay a day or two extra and explore the city a bit if I can.
Other than that I haven’t done much and I’ve enjoyed having a relaxing day. I think what I really needed was to not be at work. It was such a stressful enviornment all week after the death of my boss on Sunday. She had worked there for over 15 years and was an institution. Every single employee was somehow affected by her passing and it made for a very odd and emotional week. In addition to the emotional aspect I also took on most of the work that my boss would have been doing. Doing multiple jobs and getting paid a part time salary is no fun at all, let me tell you.
So tonight I plan on letting go of all the blah stuff from the past week and having some fun. It’s the celebration of my best friend’s 23 birthday and we are going to Olive Garden and then doing something else (not sure what yet). I already checked the Olive Garden menu and I have a couple choices for what I will eat. I’m going to have fun but I’m not going to consume 3,000 calories.
I’m so excited you’re going to BlogHer!! Keep in mind that you don’t have to stay at the conference hotel. (I probably won’t, since I’m in points programs at other hotels.) There are less expensive options within easy walking distance.
Also, if you haven’t already, check out the “room of her own” and “geek lab” sections of the conference page and vote for the sessions you’re interested in attending. (I like those sessions more than the programmed content!)
Oh, and I’m glad you had such a great Saturday! Beautiful weekend, wasn’t it?

@Cammy
It was beautiful! And I probably will end up staying in a hostel when I go to BlogHer. I talked to one of the BlogHer ladies on twitter and she said that was a good idea. I love hostels (some of them) so it should be a fun experience. I will go vote on the choices now!
