abcdefood Survey

May 26, 2011 by Mary

This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure for details.

A few conservative readers really did not like post about whether liberals or conservatives are healthier. Sorry you got offended guys! We’ll move on, shall we? Let’s do something fun today like a survey about food!

It’s so nice to have the power on back at home! To celebrate (and because I have nothing to do since I worked out this morning!!) I’m going to do Janetha’s abcdefood survey which was actually on Errign’s blog before her and Kate’s blog before her and Tara’s blog before her and  Hannah’s blog before her and Amanda’s blog before her. Yeah I just went through all those posts to find who it started with. That was fun though because now I know of a few new blogs!

Today’s posts are all food related (in a way). Maybe I miss writing about food?

A is for Apple, what’s your favorite variety?

Red delicious!

B: is for Bread, regardless of nutrition, calories, or whole grains what is your favorite type to have a nice big piece of?

I don’t know? Honestly. I’m not a bread expert so half the time I don’t even know what I’m eating with fancy types of bread.

The totally un-fancy answer that just came to me – Hawaiian bread.

That stuff is sooo good but I never eat it.

C: is for Cereal what is your favorite kind currently (just one!) Currently–

I LOVE CEREAL. So much.

Right now my favorite is Kashi Go Lean. It’s the only kind I’m buying these days. I eat it either with greek yogurt or almond milk. YUM!

If we are going for hot cereal, I love oatmeal with chia seeds and PB2.

D: is for Doughnuts, you might not currently be eating them but what kind do you fancy?

I’m not eating them but there is a cookies n cream donut that I would love.

E: is for Eggs, how would you like yours prepared?

Scrambled usually.

Eggs benedict for special occasions. With bacon. It’s like the only time I ever eat bacon anymore.

F: is for Fat Free, what is your favorite fat free product?

Hmm, I hardly buy anything fat free. So I guess fruits and veggies.

G: is for Groceries, where do you purchase yours at?

Currently I shop at Kroger and Walmart with an occasional Whole Foods trip thrown in. In New Zealand I shop at Countdown mostly with an occasional trip to Pak N Save.

I love grocery shopping but I never go grocery shopping without a list because I prefer to save money on food.

H: is for Hot Beverages, what is your favorite hot drink?

Hot Chocolate! I’m not a coffee drinker so whenever I end up at a coffee shop with people I always order hot chocolate.

I: is for Ice Cream, pick a favorite flavor and add a fun topping.

My favorites are either chocolate chip cookie dough or cookies n cream. I never eat toppings especially with those flavors.

J: is for Jams or Jellies, do you eat them, and if so what kind and flavor?

I eat them occasionally (I prefer real fruit). When I do eat them it’s almost always strawberry jam.

K: is for Kashi, name your favorite Kashi product?

I love Kashi, obviously. I like the Kashi GoLean bars and cereals.

L: is for Lunch, what was yours today?

Healthy Choice frozen meal – Honey Ginger Chicken. It was disgusting and I only ate part of it.

I’m over frozen meals. I never liked them and now that I know how to cook I can do so much better.

M: is for microwave, what is your favorite microwave meal/snack?

Frozen burritos that I make and freeze. Delicious!

N: is for nutrients, do you likes carbs, fats, or proteins best?

Carbs. Obviously. Even though I shouldn’t.

O: is for oil, what kind do you like to use?

Olive oil.

P: is for protein, how do you get yours?

  • chicken breasts
  • ground turkey
  • greek yogurt
  • eggs
  • protein powders
  • protein bars
  • protein ballz

Q: is for Quaker, how do you like your oats?

With protein powder mixed in and some sort of fruit topping. Or jam. Or with peanut butter. Yummo.

R: is for roasting, what is your favorite thing to roast?

Vegetables. I love some roasted veggies. Mmmm, I want to make roasted cauliflower right now!

S: is for sandwich, what’s your favorite kind?

Chicken salad with apples and walnuts. I hardly ever get it though!

T: is for travel, how do you handle eating while traveling?

It depends. Sometimes I’m super healthy when traveling. Sometimes I’m not. But I love to eat out and try new restaurants and cuisines!

U: is for unique, what is one of your weirdest food combos?

Probably anything I put in tuna. I put a lot of random stuff in tuna salad, but since I’m hating tuna right now we won’t talk about that.

V: is for vitamins, what kind do you take?

Daily vitamin. Fish oil.

W: is for wasabi, yay or nay?

YAY. Major yay.

X: is for XC Foodie, why is she so awesome? XRAY. if we xrayed your belly right now, what food would we see?

Janetha changed it to XRAY which is great because I don’t know who XC Foodie is!

Right now you’d see mixed vegetables with ground turkey and salsa. Oh, and a tortilla!

Y: is for youth, what food reminds you of your childhood?

Ooooh. Lots.

  • Cinnamon Toast Crunch
  • Okay, all sugary awesome cereals
  • Cheetos
  • Goldfish crackers
  • Pizza bites
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Chicken nuggets
  • Little debbie snack cakes

I was such an unhealthy eater as a kid. I refuse to let my future kids be like me!

Z: is for zucchini, how do you prepare it?

Roasted. Grilled. Sauteed.  I’ve tried it a bunch of different ways!

YOUR TURN.

Pick the last letter in your first name and tell me the answer in the comments! :)  (Or pick your favorite letter. Or do them all! I love reading people’s answers to things like this.)

Pizza bites definitely remind me of my childhood too! I never really thought I ate unhealthy as a child, but a lot of processed foods bring back memories :)

Too cute!!! Well, Y is the last letter in my first name & since I was a fat kid, I would go for pop tarts, Hostess crumb cakes, cookies & brownies, toast with tons of butter & cinnamon sugar & just about anything not good for you. ;-)

Ah, bread – LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!! Fresh out of the oven anything! Honestly, I am not a white bread fan but if it is freshly made & has that nice crunchy crust, LOVE! I am an end piece lover too!

I love eggs benedict too, but I hardly ever order it! I’m also not a coffee drinker and I’m SUPER picky about hot chocolate – I hate it to be super sweet!

Roasted CARROTS! 2# carrots rolled around in 2 T olive oil and 1/2 teaspoon salt, roasted at 475 degrees for 20 minutes (stirring every four minutes so they don’t get too dark in any one place). yum, Yum, YUM. Pure deliciousness! I do a bunch of them to eat as part of my dinner, then reheat in the microwave.

Was looking for ways to lose weight and stumbled in your blog. I simply admire the roasted cauliflower image..guess, it is not going to be tough having this cauliflower even when you are in a strict diet. I simply love your suggestions..

Ooh procrastination time I’ll do it too.
A: nothing in particular. B: something that’s got lots of wholegrains and maybe sprouted too. Healthy, but I genuinely like it. C: Ezekiel 4:9 cereal (with fruit & yogurt mixed in!) D: I don’t really like donuts. Um, oh I like beignets that I had in new orleans at café du monde. Those are sorta donuts. E: scrambled with ketchup or in a breakfast sandwich. F: im not sure I can’t think, probably fruit and veggies for me too. G: whole foods & safeway. Preferably whole foods. H: tea!! YUM I love tea I drink it every day. Even loved it as a toddler. I: honey ice cream is good, I don’t really eat ice cream though. That would be no topping. OR vanilla with homemade hot fudge sauce, which I havent had in probably 10 yrs lol. J: The best are my mother’s homemade, I have her homemade apple jelly made from her own apple tree right now. Otherwise, some sort of berry preserves, the sugar free ones are good, made with juice instead of sugar. K: I don’t eat kashi products. L: turkey, avocado sandwich with jalepeno cheese, red pepper flakes, pepper, rosemary and mustard, on sprouted whole wheat raisin bread. (I pretty much make the same thing each day) M: I don’t eat microwave meals/snacks. N: carbs O: Use mostly that spray on Pam-like stuff, but next most is olive oil, or whatever a recipe calls for. P: turkey sandwiches and chicken each night, as well as yogurt, tofu, soymilk, cheese and who knows what else. Q: last time I had oatmeal this past Saturday I made it half soymilk half water, with fresh strawberries! R: I’m too impatient to roast. Umm turkey at thanksgiving? S: something special and innovative from a restaurant, or more likely, the sandwich described above under lunch T: I try to eat what is the specialty at where I’m at. Sometimes im at others’ whims though. U: I don’t know I don’t really find my food weird. V: omega, fiber and a women’s multivitamin, W: wasabi is good on sushi yum. X: XC foodie is awesome b/c um – yay? Lol. You would see the above sandwich and a couple wedges of grapefruit. Y: all my mother’s cooking.. Chicken and rice and chicken livers (which I loved) and spaghetti and mac n cheese and casseroles and salads and desserts I dunno my moms a great cook. She made us our food every day. Z: cut up and cooked in a meal or boiled or in bread or I dunno its yummy.

M: I’m hooked on Dole Apple/Pineapple Fruit Crisps. I microwave the fruit, add the oats and top it off with whipped cream. Mmmmm….

    S is for sandwich.

My favorite kind of sandwich is peanut butter and jelly. It’s the perfect combination of salty and sweet, and with soft oat nut bread there is nothing more delicious on this earth.
