Today I’ve spent the day watching Netflix and doing something I used to love to do as a child – coloring!
Skyhorse Publishing sent me a coloring book to try out since adult coloring books are all the rage now. I don’t normally accept a lot of free products offered by companies but these sounded way too fun to pass up. I’ve heard about people using coloring books to chill and destress so I wanted to try it for myself.
Coloring might be something you think of from your childhood but it’s actually a really beneficial activity for us as adults. It forces you to focus on other things and put aside your worries while also igniting your imagination. I’m a doodler so I tend to doodle through meetings and to-do lists during the work day, so this sounded right up my alley. It’s part of how my brain works to think up new ideas and retain info so adding in color sounded fun!
Coloring books have grown in popularity lately and are at the top of bestselling charts so clearly they are striking a nerve with people. It’s a fun activity I’ve been wanting to try (also on the list I want to try is a “drink and draw” party).
The book is pretty great because it’s got a ton of intricate designs that you can work on for hours. It also has perforations so you can tear each page out easily once it’s done to display somewhere. I’m totally going to put my coloring pages on my fridge!
I chose the Paisleys: Coloring for Everyone book out of the four options offered from Skyhorse Publishing. I choose my own colors but each book comes with suggested ideas for the pattern to be colored.
Other adult coloring book options:
I really want to get one of the mandala coloring books next after I finish the paisley one. Coloring is so much fun and I’m excited to keep coloring! I’ve done my first page out of the book and if I didn’t have somewhere to be later I’d probably be doing more. I’m glad the books come with a lot of different pages to try out.
