A couple weeks ago we decided to host a little gender reveal party with our families and close friends.
The number one question people had been asking was “Do you know what you’re having yet?” (Followed closely by “how are you feeling?” which is something I’ll cover in another post.) So we decided it would be fun to get everyone together and tell them at the same time.
We had one of my sister-in-laws help us and she was the only one who knew the gender before the reveal. She bought the smoke sticks and then labeled them for us so we knew which way to turn to reveal whether our baby was a boy or a girl.
We did not know what we were having before hand which made the “reveal” part of the party even more fun!! It was a surprise for us and for everyone we were with as well.
Luckily we were going to be happy either way for a number of reasons. I’ve seen some gender reveal fail videos where the people had strong adverse reactions to the result. Since we weren’t worried about that outcome, the party and reveal itself were just a fun way to share our news with family… and now with my internet friends!
I won’t spoil the surprise for you since the video is short and sweet, but we weren’t expecting the result at all!! It was a total shock and a lot of our friends and family were surprised as well. Jason and I had totally different reactions to the shock and you’ll see in the video there were a lot of strong reactions to the reveal. :)

Haha, that’s my youngest brother. We haven’t had any boys yet on this side of the family but my other brother is now on the third girl for their family!

Haha!! Yes, my brother’s commentary was pretty funny. This is obviously our first but another brother in our family is now on their third girl so… lots of girls on my side of the family!
Congrats Mary! I loved watching this video. I love gender reveals and wish I would have been able to do one of my own. (Zoey hid her sex for a very long time). I’m very excited for you to join me in the journey of motherhood.
