I think I might try getting into the habit of blogging at night. It’s something that is generally relaxing and reflective and perhaps a good last activity on my computer before my nighttime ritual of reading before bed. So here we go!
Thanks to an unusual schedule today I was free in the morning for a longer workout. I hit my gym for cardio and weights around 9:30 this morning. I then realized I was there at the right time to finally try a yoga class at my gym!
I actually had to ask where the yoga studio was because I’d never been on that side of the gym. I discovered there was a whole other weights area, a yoga studio, and a large cardio movie theater that I had no idea existed. It was like finding a whole new gym! I was happily surprised.
The yoga class itself was lovely.
It’s been a long time since I’ve done anything other than some quick yoga poses but the instructor was great at verbalizing commands and letting us go our own way.
For the most part I was able to hit all the poses and keep up with the class. I was surprised to remember almost everything even though it’s been a long time since my last class. I felt so much calmer and zen afterwards that I might have to make yoga classes part of my weekly routine.
After yoga I was in a great mindset and made a healthy salad for lunch.
Lots of color and random veggies in there. At the bottom/mixed in is ground turkey with peppers and onions as well. I bought an amazing new fajita seasoning at the international market the other day and it made this salad so flavorful. It may have actually been one of the most flavorful things I ate with the combination of the vegetables, fajita seasoning, lime juice, chipotle ranch dressing, and a pinch of jalapeno salt. SO MUCH YUM.
All in all it’s been a fantastic day and I’m ending it feeling super relaxed. Hope you are doing the same! :)
I found that a yoga class is much more enjoyable, peaceful, and relaxing than a yoga dvd at home (given you have a good instructor).
I actually miss the fitness club I stopped going to when I moved last year. Home workouts force you to be creative, but the “atmosphere” is NOT the same at home. It’s a little disruptive when 2 dogs try to participate in a workout!
Yoga is the one thing that never sparked my interest but that might be because I am hell bent on anything that will help me lose weight and gain lean muscle, not necessarily awesome flexibility. I might just take a couple classes one day once I feel ready (thinner).
Hi Mary!
I actually like yoga classes for I feel so relax and happy after doing yoga. Yoga is one of the best exercises I have done so far. I would also suggest that others must try yoga classes.
I’ve been off yoga for a couple yrs but i’ve been missing it a bit lately and thinking about going back. just not sure i want to spend the $ since the yoga at my gym that’s for free doesn’t fit my schedule. hmm.
What is a cardio movie theatre? do you get to run on the eliptical while a large movie screened movie plays? that would be cool.
