I’m all about getting to a healthier weight through weight loss, I also feel its important to do this from love of self and a place of strength. If you love your body you will want to do the things that take care of it and make it the best possible body it can be. With that in mind, I think accepting your body and curves and realizing you are beautiful no matter what size you are is very important.
While I have been looking around the web for websites/blogs to read for encouragement, tips, and inspiration, I found this blog of Jamar Nicholas’s blog of Big Beautiful Wonder Woman cartoons. The cartoons all depict Wonder Woman as a bigger woman, in various sizes depending on the artist.
It’s an interesting collection and one that is kind of inspiring to see. It’s nice to imagine wonder woman as a character that isn’t tied to weight loss but is confident and strong in her abilities as a fat woman.
Here are some of the Big Beautiful Wonder Woman drawings that I just loved!
Big Beautiful Wonder Woman by Rain
Big Beautiful Wonder Woman by Josh Ellingson
Big Beautiful Wonder Woman by Bill
These wonder woman cartoons are amazing! Here are some more of my favorites from the Big Beautiful Wonder Woman collection:
I love, love, love this drawing of wonder woman. She isn’t huge but she’s not a traditional wonder woman type. She’s definitely beautiful as well and looks like a major badass. It’s honestly the kind of person I aim to be. Strong, confident, sexy. Maybe never necessarily small, but comfortable and rocking a tiny costume. ;)
This image is great too because even though it’s totally unrealistic proportions, it’s a very womanly image. Curves on curves on curves for this particular Wonder Woman!
I love the last one. Wonder woman is so happy and confident and saving both Batman and Robin who are crushing on her hard. It shows how you don’t have to be small to be admired! You can be the one who saves the day no matter what size you are.
So great to show a strong female lead character who isn’t super tiny! While I’m not fully into the fat acceptance movement, I do think it’s important to show that fat females can also be leaders and role models and do all the great things that everyone else can do!
There aren’t a lot of positive fat role models out there these days for young women. It’s all about toned abs and skinny jeans. You don’t really see many fat female leading characters on tv shows even though there are a lot of fat men in those roles (always comedy of course). Seeing fat female super heroes isn’t normal but it’s something that we should totally see more of in the world. At least loving yourself and being confident at any size is a great idea.
