A few days ago, personal finance blogger J Money asked us all what our biggest guilty pleasure was:
If someone were to ask you the one thing you spend a lot of money on that you probably shouldn’t, you’d know the answer right? It would take you approximately 2.3 seconds to come up with?
My biggest guilty pleasure that I spend a lot on is COFFEE.
As I said in the comments on the post: I spend way too much on coffee… but it’s so nice and makes me happy…. and awake. :)
Funnily enough I type this from a Starbucks with an Iced Americano right next to me! In this past week I’ve also gotten coffee from Chick-Fil-A (for FREE) and from a couple local coffee shops.
I get coffee out at least once a day and I sometimes also use my Keuirg at home to make coffee if I’m not planning to go out.
I drink a lot of coffee and I spend a lot of money on coffee. It’s partly food related, partly entertainment, partly productivity.
A few months ago I started going to coffee shops every day to feel normal. It was a crazy extreme luxury in the midst of unemployment, but it was part of how I made unemployment work for me. It was a lot more fun to apply for jobs and read unemployment books while also sipping a delicious cup of joe.
Over the last couple months I’ve transitioned to full time self-employment through raising my online income again and also picking up several local clients for website and social media management.
Since I’m working for myself now and don’t have an office to go to, cofffee shops have transitioned from that place I go to while unemployed to the place where I’m working every day! It’s an easy place to meet clients and it’s one place where I’m actually super productive with writing.
Coffee spurs me to wake up, focus, and work harder. That’s totally worth a couple bucks a day in my opinion!
Coffee is my guilty pleasure spurge item by far.
I’ve tried to limit my coffee spending in the past but I find having a hefty coffee budget per month makes me happy and keeps me working toward achieving my career goals.
Last month’s spending didn’t reflect a huge spending in this area because I’ve kept my personal spending on this down by using gift cards and such.
Sure coffee is a luxury and not necessary at all. If I really wanted to do so I could cut out coffee from my life and my budget.
and if I really wanted to I could cut it out. But I’d rather just make enough to keep this particular spending item! Or keep getting gift cards from Swagbucks to cover this particular expense. :)
What’s your biggest guilty pleasure that you spend a lot on?
Obama is all vague generalities. The reality is that his and Hillary’s positions are not that far apart. This election i’m choosing substance over rhetoric. Ron Paul.
Ron Paul, eh? Yeah, that is really going to happen.
