Alright, get ready – this is a post full of pictures and awesome bloggerness, brought to you by the free wifi in the Chicago Public Library.
So, let’s talk about BlogHer, shall we? I remember hearing a little bit about blogher over the last couple of years while I was blogging on and off about different topics. Since I started taking blogging (and weight loss) more seriously this year I decided I would attend a blogging conference. I figured I could learn some things and meet some of the bloggers I read every day.
I went to a ton of sessions, including the panel on body image with Heather, Claire, Kate, Carla, and Roni. I enjoyed the panel and the audience participation. Although it wasn’t a session where I learned more about blogging, I learned a lot about women and generated several post ideas. Look for these in the future.
At the panel I finally met Roni and Andrea, who is awesome and knew about all the best things at the conference.
I also met Lorrie (Token Fat Girl), Krissie (Questions for Dessert), and Miranda (Fat Bridesmaid). These girls are sooo adorable. I thought about sneaking up to there room and taking all their cute clothes, but since that would had been a bit naughty I just admired them instead. Lovely ladies!
Also met and spent time with Sahar (FatFighterTV) and Carla (MizFit)
I chilled with the Fitbloggers Carla (MizFit) and Lisa (Workoutmommy). Lisa managed to get me doing pushups in video at one point, crazy fitness blogger with a video camera!
Went out for sushi with Kath, Jenn, who are awesome in their dedication to delicious real food, and Mara who is amazingly sweet and gave us all cute mugs and these necklaces:
[Side note: I’m wearing mine today because it is adorable, even if I’m not a food blogger. But I think even for me the symbol still fit because I use the internet & computer to track my food and to help me stay on track. ]
(Me), Roni, and Carla out for sushi goodness. These women are amazing and I’m really glad I got a chance to spend time with them. I also tried seaweed salad for the first time, which was quite nice, and ate a ton of edamame. Mmmmmmm.
Went to the CheeseburgHer Party where they served McDonald’s fast food and bags to wear on our heads. Mine says pretty much all there is to say.
Today I went out to lunch with Roni and Andrea so I could try some delicious Chicago deep dish style pizza. They also had some spinach cheese sticks that were DELICIOUS. Roni will be making a variation of that this week so look for it on Green Lite Bites.
There are a ton of other awesome people I met this weekend and didn’t take pictures with, so I will probably do shoutouts once I get home and go through business cards and such. It was great meeting so many people that I read and interact with daily. I felt like I knew them already and in a way I did because of the nature of blogging and how much we share of our lives. The experience was awesome and has made me want to meet everyone else!
I had SO much fun meeting you and going out for dinner!! I actually had the same thought about the computer/food/tracking etc. thing :)

I loved meeting you, too, Mary. Fortunately, I escaped the photo sessions. Although I do have a few from the photo booth on Saturday night! :) I didn’t get to meet all the awesome folks you did, but I’m definitely going to check out their blogs. And I’m definitely going to blogher next year, just to keep meeting fabulous folks.

It sounds like you had a blast, Mary! It’s really great to see your photos, and made me wish I’d been able to attend. I’m from Chicago originally (moved to Portland, OR 10 years ago) and your post made me nostalgic. Mostly about all the great Chicago food I can’t get out here. (Which is probably a good thing! LOL)
