Since Penny’s arrival, we’ve been adjusting to life together. I’m only home with her for a short while and though I’ve found being a mom hard at first, I’m enjoying the experience of spending time with her. I also don’t want this time to slip by and only exist in my memories, so I’ve tried to document some of our time together.
The result is our day in the life video from when she was just under a month old. I edited out the projectile spit up, but other than that it is a pretty accurate representation of our days together.
Life with a newborn is both interesting and boring so I recorded our day in the life while I’m on maternity leave! I don’t get to stay home long with my baby so I want to remember these days as much as possible before I return to work and our life changes.
I’m a first time mom and this is a pretty regular day in the life with my baby at 3.5 weeks old. We don’t have a strict newborn daily routine but we go with the flow and try to do eat then play/awake then sleep with 1 hour awake periods. It’s not perfect but she is doing somewhat well with this plan and is sleeping longer periods at night from 3 to 4 hour stretches.
The days mostly revolve around trying to keep her fed and also keep her sleeping since she needs sleep but will easily boycott once she gets overtired. She loves the eating part of life right now but doesn’t quite enjoy the sleeping part as much.
This video showed the first time she fell asleep in her swing and I’m hoping that continues so we have another tool in the “baby needs to sleep” toolbox. Even as I type this post she is in her swing and yawning but fighting sleep. Maybe soon she will learn from her siblings Hank and Juju that sleep is super fun!
Hope you enjoy this little peek into our lives! I’ll be posting another day in the life vlog soon before I go back to work and then again once I’m working since I’m sure our lives will change a ton by that time!

Amalah has really great information on families. Her baby information is well worth a read. I went back and read most of her archives. Comments are very thoughtful.
