I’m slightly ashamed to admit I’m just now sharing this DIY hutch makeover project when I actually first started it almost two years ago when we bought our house! This was my first and one of my favorite projects I’ve done in the house so far because I love how it turned out!
Today I’m sharing the video DIY tv stand makeover as an example of how you can turn something cheap into something awesome and functional!
This DIY hutch makeover has been one of my favorite DIY PROJECTS since starting to work on our house. I took a free tv stand that was being thrown away and turned it into a cute hutch for our kitchen storage.
Here’s the before photo:
I’m all about DIY projects and recycling things that would otherwise be thrown away. The huge TV stands that were so popular in the past are now outdated and many people toss them since no one will buy one. However, I knew I could repurpose it into something useful with a little bit of money and some hard work.
And here’s the after:
Supplies used in this DIY project*:
– FREE tv stand
– Renaissance Chalk Furniture Paint ($15)
– Brossum 2-in-1 Round Chalk Paint and Wax Brush ($14)
– Embossed Coastal Cedar MDF Wall Panel ($15)
– wood for shelves
Since I used chalk paint I didn’t have to sand down anything before painting. That saved a ton of time and work unlike the diy white dresser redo I did where sanding took hours to complete.
I love, love, love how it turned out! I still want to make some improvements like adding lights on the top and maybe changing the styling on the bottom shelves. I’ve pinned a ton of kitchen hutch ideas so I’ll probably change it up soo but for now I’m loving this piece in our kitchen.
