Doctor Day

October 3, 2011 by Mary

Between my little brother getting in an accident (he’s fine), working some overtime, and not having internet at home, my weekend didn’t go as planned. Needless to say, I left the weekend feeling like I have even more on my to do list this week.

The first thing on the list? Doctor visits!

Today’s fun involves a eye doctor visit for contacts (I actually prefer contacts but have been wearing my glasses more lately because I ran out of contacts and couldn’t refill my prescription) and the dentist of some fillings (because I almost always have multiple cavities).

I dislike going to these two doctors in particular, much more than a regular doctor visit. But I know that they are part of the overall health puzzle and I need to get it done. I put off the dentist visits longer than I should which is why I always end up having multiple cavities instead of just one or so. Wish me luck because it’s not going to be a pleasant visit.

I hate dentist visits.

Always have.

Maybe it’s because I’ve always had cavities. When I was younger my 3 brothers and I would eat the same foods but we all wouldn’t get cavities. Somehow my teeth just weren’t as healthy. Oh well.

I’m off to the doctors to get checked out and complete my round of doctor visits before leaving the US in a few weeks. Other than the cavities I know I have I’ve got a clean bill of health. It’s all good! :)

Just curious… What’s your least favorite doctor to visit? Mine is the dentist for sure!

Mine is the dermatologist, for sure. He has to go over my whole body with a magnifying glass. It’s painstaking and uncomfortable. I also tend to put it off, but should actually go every year.

I’m having a tooth issue right now – my only filling broke and now I have to get the tooth crowned. Lots of money!

    Good luck with your visits!

I actually LOVE the dentist! Its probably because my mom was a dental hygienist when I was younger.

I’m not a fan of the regular ol’ doctor. Actually until this year I hadn’t been to a doctor in almost 10yrs! I’m glad I started going though!

    Good luck at the dentist!!

Well, Mary, you have been reading about my dentist visits to UCLA for almost 2 years so… I hear you there! I can do everything they tell me to & still have probs – very frustrating! Hope all goes well!

    Count down! :-)

Problem with me owning a flip phone? I can easily break it in half during a meltdown following a failed dentist visit. Oops. I guess I don’t have a phone now. But for the love of all things holy can I please find a dentist that won’t lie to me or make me cry or otherwise ruin my whole day? I just want to get my cavities filled but apparently I’ll have to let my teeth rot away slowly instead.

The regular doctor used to be my least favorite cuz I could never find a nice one and they were always mean to me, some very mean, and I’d usually get sick from being at the doctor’s office with germs. Now I have a cushy nice place near my house, with a nice doctor, so I don’t mind it, BUT my health insurance is basically leaving in Jan so I prob will never be able to afford to go there after this year again… I don’t mind the dentist except for that it’s gross. Someone with teeth dirt all over their hands in your mouth ew. Your dentist sounds horrible, for making you upset and breaking your phone!!

The gyn for me definately. It just ruins my whole day. I always tell my hubby I never want to hear him complain about going to the doctors…ever! I know it has to be done but…geesh.

I agree, the dentist is the worst. And my current one is really, really good. But I’ve had horrible ones in the past and ya just don’t get over that kind of thing.

On one visit I think had more fillings than my brother has had in his whole life! Sigh…What can ya do? :)

I hear ya, going to doctors is always a chore for me as well. Specially as I live in a foreign country and I am forced to try to remember grammar rules whilst still trying to remember what the heck is wrong with me in the first place! It’s always frustrating and embarrassing honestly. I come out of every doctor’s office feeling like a dork.
I haven’t been to the dentist in about 3 or 4 years. My excuse has been I just moved to a new city and I haven’t found the right one yet. But after all this time-it doesn’t quite cut it anymore. Hope your appointment goes well and your whole day isn’t ruined. Wish I had more encouraging words for you!

Hmm…. I dont really mind any doctor but i would say my least favorite is the dentist. I always have cavities too. My last dentist told me that women are just more prone than men. Dont know how true that is. I dont like the sound of the drill and the picking of the teeth. I find myself getting all tensed up….and I cant hold my jaw open for long without it hurting. So I always leave sore. :(

That might be true about women. I don’t know.

I don’t like the sound or picking either! Eek!
