Happy Tuesday everyone! I’m so out of the blogging swing of things these days. You know how you stop doing something for a bit and then can never quite pick it up again? That’s how it feels with this blog at times. Forgive the lackluster content lately!
I do want to share a bit about the things I’ve been focused on lately: fitness & self care. I’m finding these two things together make a world of difference to me and my overall happiness and mental state. Combined they are the combo that makes me the best me!
Fitness
Saturday I hit my friend’s gym and actually threw some weights around in a way that I haven’t done in forever.
Seriously, it’s been sooo long since I did squats with weight. I did those, deadlifts, some upper body stuff, and 30 minutes cardio on the bike while I read When Food Is Love: Exploring the Relationship Between Eating and Intimacy.
Sunday was a rest day but yesterday after work I headed to the dog park with JuJu.
I love the dog park here and can’t believe it took me so long to start going to the big one. It’s literally miles of open space with multiple lakes and lots of hills and pathways. JuJu LOVES it. We went and walked for about 2 hours and get got to play fetch the stick in the lake – one of her favorites!
We might go back again today or I’ll be hitting up a class at the gym. Most likely more dog park since it’s such nice weather outside finally!
Self Care
This weekend was a wonderful time of self-care. The massage on Saturday was relaxing as well as therapeutically painful. I needed it and my massage therapist literally told me after to stop being such a tight ass. I’ll have to work on that so future massages will be less painful.
Other awesome bits of self care from the weekend:
- Bought 14 books at a used bookstore because I love reading.
- Read a book instead of doing extra work on the weekend.
- Bought a new sweater at Loft cause it looked amazing.
- Bought new rings, necklace, and bracelet because I enjoy pretty jewelry.
- Let myself sleep in because it was needed.
Definitely had a lovely weekend hanging with friends in Nashville and came back to work feeling rested and excited about a lot of things. Taking care of yourself is so important!
