My second triathlon was going to be this weekend. I’ve finally come to terms with the fact that I won’t be participating. Being sick twice in the last three weeks when I was supposed to be ramping up my training has ruined my chances to enjoy the event. It’s this Saturday and even now I’m sniffling and coughing up a storm. It is disappointing, but it is what it is.
Yesterday I realized I want to keep doing triathlons. I am itching to start training again hardcore. I want the practice sessions. I want the thrill of participating and crossing the finish line. I want another finisher’s medal and race number. I want to be a triathlete!
Right now I’m looking up triathlons (and other races) in the US, since it will be summer there soon and I’ll be around. I was thinking I might try to find a bike and enter one, but that plan is up in the air. All my plans are up in the air really. Let’s just say I would really like to do a tri while I’m in the US and see how far that gets me.
My only cardio lately has been walking since it’s not too strenuous. Yesterday I walked the 1.5 miles to and from the library and that brings my total miles walked for April to 5.5. I also finally went back to the gym for strength training and completed my first workout of the month besides walking. Progress on The 25 Challenge is going well.
Today I’m really feeling that workout. I did straight leg deadlifts and after not doing them for a while and my hamstrings are sore today. Very sore. With the promise of more sore tomorrow. It feels really good to be sore and to finally have had enough strength to even do those exercises!

Sorry you’re still not feeling well. Before you know it you’ll be back in the saddle doing what you love.
Señor Kitty is growing up fast! Adorable!

I’ve totally been considering a tri on the road myself – just rent a nice bike, don’t care about the time, just finish. I say do it!
I hope you feel better soon. Sick sucks. Rest and mild exercise is a good good thing.

That’s what I’m aiming for to get better. I’ve been trying to sleep a lot and walk/mild exercise.

awesome! I still have a tri in the back of my mind, but cycling is taking up enough time! Maybe when school and wedding chaos is over :) Hope you get to feeling better.

Ah, weddings! Getting in the way of other plans. ;) I’m hoping that even though Ill be doing wedding stuff this summer I’ll still have time to train and finish another. We will see though.

You know, I have enough excuses to overcome without the being sick thing getting in the way. I’m just now starting to feel somewhat functional after being down for about 3 days straight. I can’t wait until I feel 100% again so I can go back to fighting and I hope the same for you!
