Since the new year began I’ve been trying to figure out what exactly I wanted to do in terms of fitness this year. When I set my “healthy challenge” goals for the year it was all about food because that’s the area where I always struggle the most (restaurants! food trucks! beer! parties!).
Fitness is usually my easiest part of healthy living. I like being active and doing active things. I like exercising. I love playing sports. It comes relatively easy to me…
Then last month I quit my gym because I got tired of extra fees and my stuff being stolen. I struggled with exercising without a gym membership despite knowing lots of at home workouts. Apparently I love being active but hate working out at home. I only let two weeks pass before enough was enough and earlier this week I joined a small gym where I can workout without spending a fortune or worrying.
Now that I’ve got a place where I want to workout and the weather is warming up, I’ve decided on my fitness goal for the year:
I want to do five 5ks in 2015.
I chose this goal for a few different reasons. It’s achievable because I’ve done 5ks before. Multiple times. They are a fun distance, a short distance, a distance I’m comfortable with doing. I’ve been running a bit more lately at the dog park and around my neighborhood already. It’s also a goal that is social because I can do 5ks with other people and love the atmosphere and most 5ks I’ve been to in the area. It’s also affordable because I can sign up for several that are only $20-25 if I get in early. Plus the best reason of all: it’s fun!
I’m really excited about this particular fitness goal!
There are several really fun 5k that happen this spring and summer and I want to participate in them. All those mud runs and glow runs and obstacle runs…. bring it on! I’ll update when I’ve decided which 5ks I’m going to do and of course do recaps.
Let me know if there is a particular 5k that you think I should do!
I wish I could do this with you. Maybe I will try! Let me know. Some I will have to do in Lville but maybe sometimes I could be back home for one or two!
Dude! Yes! I’ll look at the schedule… we could maybe do one before the wedding even?
