The hardest thing for most of us to remember and practice is portion control (yes, yes, yes this is what I am working on!). We are so used to the monster portions from restaurants that we have no clue what portion sizes we should actually eat.
To keep the correct portion sizes in mind you can create notecard reminders to keep in your kitchen so they are available during meal times. Write down reminders of proper serving sizes like:
- A 3 oz serving of meat, fish, or poultry is the size of a deck of cards.
- A ounce-and-a-half of cheese is the size of four stacked dice.
- A cup of cereal or a baked potato is about the size of an average fish.
I think many of us fell off the healthy eating wagon for a while. Back on the wagon and getting lots of good exercise.
