Today was a long day but it was amazing. So many great things happened!
I felt girly today.
I haven’t felt girly and fun in a while. Not sure why that is but it just hasn’t happened. Today I wore a dress and cute shoes and felt spunky and cute. That translated into a fun workday (or maybe I just like my work).
After work I continued the girly stuff when I went to meet my mom’s friend/seamstress who is making my wedding dress. She is awesome and we were totally on the same page about my dress and veil and overall look. I loved looking at patterns for dresses and talking about the wedding with my mom and her friend.
The thing about wearing dresses and being girly is that after many hours I really can’t wait to change. So after meeting about me dress I changed and went to the gym.
I felt strong today.
My workout was later than normal but I felt strong. I went through my workout as normal and enjoyed lifting heavy weights. It’s always fun for me when I know I’m lifting more than I was before. It’s even more fun when I know I’m lifting more than other people around me. I like feeling strong.
Right now I’m at the same weight as I was last time I weighed in. But, my body is definitely different. My arms are probably the area that have change the most because I can finally see muscle definition in my arms. I’ve always had such fat arms that I’ve never seen anything before but I can finally see muscle emerging and it’s the coolest thing in the world!
I can honestly say I have no idea what my body will look like when I get married. In another four months I just don’t know what my body parts will look like. I’m pretty sure my arms will look way better than they did four months ago. Strength training is the best!
Today was a great day because I felt both girly and strong.
How did you feel today?
A girl should always feel girly and strong, and strength training is great for that. Love it! Congrats on your wedding!
yay! I love being girly, and wearing dresses and skirts, but then i love coming home and putting on my favorite pair of shorts :)
How many days a week do you strength train, Mary? I need to incorporate that better! Love!
5 days, only because I break it up into lower/upper body since there are days where I don’t have a lot of time (20 minutes and done!). Right now I’m doing upper/lower/upper/lower off full body off. :)
I felt wasted. Yesterday involved an awesome workout, followed by a devestating conversation. I then promptly slept for 5 hours and had a nightmare about losing my job and my mother.
I couldn’t force myself to get up this morning. Back to the ol’ heave ho tomorrow though!
I’m sorry you felt that. I hope today is better!
Hi Mary,
I’m really intrigued by your weight training. I do Body pump, but have always struggled to do strength training in the gym!
Have you done a post on this? I would love to hear more about how you developed your routine and where you find information on proper strength training.
I have no idea where to start on my own!
Thanks and great post! I’m so glad that things are going great for your wedding!
I have not written much about what I do actually. I think I might post about this soon and share my routine. ;)
That would be great, Thanks Mary
I too would love to know your weight training regimen. I just started strength training myself and love it. Right now, I am doing arms/legs. When my broken rib heals, I plan on adding chest and back.
WTG Mary! Nothing like feeling girly and strong
I felt girlie ( I always feel like that ), but not so strong cause I didn’t sleep the day before.
I am sure you will look beautiful for your wedding.
I’ve gotta admit I’m jealous. I’m banned from real strength training right now due to a thumb sprain that doesn’t want to heal. I tried it Sunday with bands but I don’t think my thumb appreciated it. I’ll have to live vicariously through you right now.
I felt accomplished because I have been altering my workouts to include non-punching activities which is *really* hard when that’s what 80% of your workouts are. Thankfully the weather is cooperating a few days a week for hikes!
Mary you look great! That picture says so much and I think it is just wonderful! Feeling strong is really such a great feeling.
I LOVE THAT PIC OF YOU!!!!! Yahoo feeling good & girly & strong & all that! Keep it up Mary!
Girls *ARE* strong. We rock! Glad you had a great day.
Better after reading this post, brimming with positivity and self-love!
Aww, that’s cute!
Yep, pictures after the wedding. :)
I’m more of a pants girl myself, but sometimes I enjoy wearing a skirt! That is a really cute picture of you by the way! You’re so photogenic!
I’m more of a jeans kind of girl, really. I never wear skirts but I look cute as anything in some dresses.
What a great day, feeling girly and strong all in the same day! It’s so much fun to see your body change morph into a new you!
Feeling strong is key. I have a pretty good fitness routine myself that works and you don’t have to work yourself half to death to reach your goals.
Congrats on your wedding!
That dress looks like its cute, well I like the print of it. That sounds fun, working with a seamstress to make your very own unique for you dress! Today I feel happy, I started out with an exasperating day, feeling exhausted, but after lunch I got a chance to get some work done at work (finally…lots of IT issues here) and it’s quiet here so calming, and now it’s the weekend, so..ya happy. Not particularly girly though as I’m in jeans, t & sneakers, but at least I’m wearing makeup!
