This weekend was rather busy for me. My roommates threw a party on Friday, I spent the morning with my mom and afternoon with Candace on Saturday, and then I met my friend Alan and his dog Dorian on Sunday.
I love any chance I get to meet cutie pitbulls.
It was a great weekend!
One of the highlights was going with my mom to get haircuts before her surgery. She wanted to get something shorter without fuss and I was happy to have something I could give her before the surgery. At the last minute I decided to get a haircut too!
I was unsure about the new cut but then I posted the photo on Facebook and got a lot of compliments. Now I love my hair and feel awesome too!
This past weekend was actually full of unexpected compliments.
When I went shopping with Candace she mentioned I was looking better and healthier than when I last saw her which was nice. Then a friend I haven’t seen in person in three years asked me if I just used diet and exercise to lose weight. At first I was thinking, “what weight have I lost?” I’ve been hovering at roughly the same weight for so long that I forget three years ago I was quite a bit heavier. I am 50 ish pounds lighter when I last saw this friend which means I look better and have lost and kept off a good chunk of weight. It was a nice reminder of this fact because I forget it myself sometimes! It’s easy to feel like a failure when you aren’t at your ultimate goal so it was nice to remember that I’ve actually made a good amount of progress since I started.
The point of all this? Compliments are great to receive.
They are especially nice when you are feeling stressed and super anxious as I am this week. The mental boost is so valuable. Thanks to everyone who said something nice lately, I really appreciate it! I hope to return the favor this week to everyone I can by handing out compliments whenever I can!
