Halloween Successes

“But I don’t want to go among mad people,” Alice remarked.
“Oh, you can’t help that,” said the Cat: “we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.”
“How do you know I’m mad?” said Alice.
“You must be,” said the Cat, “or you wouldn’t have come here.”
-Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

happy halloween

For Halloween I through together a last minute costume to go as a female Mad Hatter. I bought the hat and tights but everything else was stuff I already had – making it a comfy and easy costume.

  • Scarf – Thrifted
  • Blazer & Shirt – My mom’s closet (size 12, yo)
  • Dress – Target
  • Hat & Tights – Party store
  • Boots – Payless, similar from ModCloth

Almost everything was already on hand! By the time I took this picture my makeup had faded, but I had a very vibrant eye shadow look going on earlier. It’s probably the only time I’ll wear blue and red eyeshadows but it looked cool!

Overall Halloween was a great success for me. I didn’t buy any Halloween candy to give out to kiddos and I didn’t have any at any parties. I actually had no candy at all! Considering how much my tastebuds love sugar and how much I love Halloween candy, this was a major victory for me.

I didn’t really miss the candy since I was enjoying other delicious food and time with friends. Pretty proud of this since I’ve binged on Halloween candy on past holidays. Things have definitely changed.

So far I’m off to a great start for this holiday season. I’m planning to join a hiking group with my friend Candace (who is now blogging at My Life Unboxed!!) and have a few other active opportunities I plan to pursue. I honestly think it will be a great season for me this year. Hope you all are too!

You may already do this but…. use a primer before you put your shadow on. Don’t have a primer? Lick your finger and run it across you eyelid-it works! Once you apply your Shadow, use a setting spray like makeup forever or urban decay. It helps… you may already do this but my halloween makeup lasted all day!

I used to have Urban Decay primer and it worked really well, but I haven’t bought a new one yet. It’s on my list to eventually get haha. Licking and wiping sounds gross but I might try that next time! Haha. I loved your tiger makeup btw!

Thanks! I was pretty excited to wear some of my mom’s clothes cause she has always been smaller than me! It was definitely a cool feeling. :)
