My arms are so sore today and I LOVE IT.
I love the feeling because I know it will result in my body becoming stronger. I’m going to be strong like this guy who sits on my desk at work all day.
Joining a gym was such a good decision. I push myself harder when I’m in a gym. I have already moved up to using 25 lbs on some things and the only weights at home I had went up to 20 lbs. The gym just offers so much more.
I’ve also been trying to be more active at work when I can. In addition to walking during lunch and taking the stairs I’ve been getting up more often to stretch and get water.
They already jokingly make fun of me for drinking so much water. Apparently the 5 gallon water jugs go a lot faster than used to. And it’s “my water” now. Today my co-worker told me they are going to start charging $5 a glass. Ha.
I’ve also been pacing while reading. I’m reading up on Google Adwords to get certified so I pace in the back of the office when I’m reading. Exercise + work = awesome!
Pacing while reading is actually really fun. I’ve never been able to sit still when reading. Even since I was a kid I’ve always moved some part of my body while reading, usually without even thinking about it. So pacing is fun for me.
The part of the office I pace in has lots of rocket and space related toys. It’s a cheerful area.
I’m trying my best to fit in as much activity as possible around my schedule. I just set a date to go meet the lady who is making my wedding dress. In two weeks I have my first fitting so I’m committed to doing well for the next two weeks. Super committed.
Today my three coworkers went to the store and bought then ate Combos, chips, cheese dip, and other snacks. And I’m drank water the whole time.
I love it.
Yay! go you! proud of you :)
At first, i thought you were gonna say you dress up like ninja turtles at work!!!!!
Hahahah. Now I want to go into work wearing a ninja turtle costume!
Just curious, what’s the fitness level like among co-workers (the chip eaters included) in your office?
At my last job, a vast majority of support staff (maybe even 100%) were obese, several probably “morbidly” obese, but all the professionals (100%) were at what would be considered a normal/healthy weight and were into fitness.
At my current job, I would say the support staff are mostly fairly fit, but maybe 1/3 are overweight/obese, and again, most the professionals are fit but maybe 1/10 are overweight and only 1 single person would meet the definition of obese or morbidly obese I’d guess.
Loving the pacing while reading idea! I wonder how well it would work while reading a novel!
I’m all about pacing when reading – I do it at work and at home. I also like reading on the treadmill. I was actually studying for my nutrition diploma program on the treadmill less than an hour ago :)
Somehow I find that my brain processes things much better when I take it in while moving my body around.
Very cool Mary! I am so happy for you that you have work you love & you are enjoying getting healthy! Check out this post from Sahar on how she got 10,000 steps a day without even working out: http://fatfightertv.com/blog/2011/05/313786-steps-in-31-days/.
Keep on enjoying!
That’s awesome! I’m glad you work in a fun pace and can ‘exercise’ and be active while having a sedentary office job. Keep up the good work and you’ll see the results before you know it!
Well I can’t do it all the time but I enjoy the days when I can occasionally. :)
I used to have one of those ninja turtle action figures!
Joining a gym was the best thing I ever did for my fitness. I loved it – so much more equipment to use, a gorgeous track to run on, the motivation from being around other athletic people, the drop-in classes . . . it was great.
Then I moved, and now I don’t have a gym anymore. Sadface me. But I’m moving back soonish, so all is not lost!
Good luck with your fitness goals :)
Your office looks fun! Yay toys!
