Healthy Counting & Shopping

Thank you for the helpful comments and emails about yesterday’s weigh in post. I’m trying to figure out the head stuff. The weight loss is going well, as today I weighed in again and I’m down to 205.6. Slowly going down, woohoo!

I’ve been doing well with tracking on My Fitness Pal lately. Almost everything has been tracked besides some dinners eaten at restaurants, which is a success for me.

One thing that has helped is writing the amounts of food I use in meals on the fridge as I go.

Shopping trip

This doesn’t take much time and I don’t have to remember anything for when I put in the calories later. Since I often make up recipes and cook on the fly this has been the only thing I’ve found to work. It makes it so much easier when I go off script from a recipe and start making adaptations.

I’ve also been shopping really well. I haven’t meal planned or shopped for a full week in forever but my thrice weekly shopping trips have been super healthy.

Here’s what I got today:

Shopping trip

  • chicken breast
  • ground turmeric
  • frozen winter veggies (carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, and green beans)
  • apples
  • navel oranges
  • mini bananas

A good group of items. I originally went to the store for the chicken and veggies because I made Thai green curry for lunch yet again. It’s my new favorite dish and it really doesn’t even take that long to make. I love it.

All things are going well here. The crazies are easing up a bit and I’m feeling more of my normal self.

I’m off to make the best of it! :)

That’s a great way to make sure you keep up with your food as the day goes along if you don’t track before you eat. Looks like a good haul from the grocery! Yum!

    Have a great weekend!

Great job. You’re doing awesome. When my clients struggle with their diets, my first suggestion is to keep a diary and write down everything. It really helps you see what you’re doing right and what you’re doing wrong. Keep it up!

i usually go to the grocery store two times a week. trying for a whole week, things end up going bad, or i forgot something, or both! plus it’s hard to carry that much food home. cute bananas.

The best weight loss programs are the ones that do not make you go on crazy diets. You will not lose weight if you are uncomfortable with the food you are eating. You will feel stressed about trying to remember what you can and cannot eat. Being stressed will not help you to lose weight. It might even make you gain weight. Thanks a lot…
